Black licorice

[QUOTE=Lute Skywatcher]
Those Crows aren’t really black but very, very dark green.

Ah, that explains what happened the day after I ate nearly a full box of Crows… :eek:

Of the various types of licorice sold at Trader Joe’s, what’s the best, and/or most like the classic Twizzler Bites?

Trader Joes’s licorice is to any Twizzler licorice, what Trader Joes’s chocolate is to any Hershey’s chocolate. There is no comparison on either account.

Agreed. Trader Joe’s wins on both counts. But I recommed the Scottie dogs if you are looking for a comparable texture. The Scotties will be softer (think of really fresh twizzlers) and have a stronger flavor.

Bassett’s Allsorts can be found in the import aisle of my local grocer, do your local grocers have an import aisle?

Yep. A blight.

I was under the impression that all/most of the licorice sold now is artificial. Licorice has medicinal effects - raises blood pressure, is a laxative, and other things, which are not healthful for general consumption. (Never heard of salty licorice.)
