Black Women and white hair

Every last black (African-American if you prefer) woman in our office wears either a wig or attaches a hair piece.

They all straighten and try to get there hair to look like white women.

Isn’t this just another attempt by “THE MAN” to force the culture of white beauty on black folk?

Who is THE MAN and how can HE force culture on someone?

What´s wrong with straight hair?

A lot of white folk put curls and permannt in their hair. Perhaps THE MAN is also trying to force black beauty on white folk?

And how is this a Great Debate?

Eh, what Hoe said. Points 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Oh, and point 5: Why do you think that women who straighten their hair are trying to look white?

Hmmm…well we all know that no white people have naturally curly hair.

 They havn’t yet discovered that their hair’s natural kinks turn into beautiful dreadlocks when allowed to go their own way and not viciously chemicaled and straightened.

I’m locked up and free…

The one thing I can contribute to this thread (if it can be called so) is something a black friend of mine once said to me:

Hair is to black women as weight is to white women.
