Oh my god, my lady bits just contracted, and not in a nice way. I’m imagining the sensation cinnamon gum produces in my mouth and . . . ungh! Terrible!
Okay, I’ll admit that apple jacks don’t taste like apples. But they’re still nummy (though they cut my mouth up somethin’ fierce nowadays). I seem to recall some other cereal company launching a smear campaign against them based on that; anyone else remember? Or was it a weird ad by the company itself?
In conclusion: I still like apple jacks.
Apple Jacks themselves launched the campaign about how AJ tastes nothing like apples but kids don’t care anyway.
Having made real grape jelly from real concord grapes, many purple grape things do actually taste like grapes, concord grape jelly style grapes anyway. Not all “grape” candies, but the good ones do.
I find that red licorice tastes nothing like licorice, but in my mind that is a very good thing.
Well … you’ll notice that packages of “red licorice” never say “red licorice”. They say things like “Red Vines” or “Red Ropes”. “Red licorice” is just the vernacular.
I can attest to this. I LOVE bourbon chicken as served at Cajun Grill and other food court restaurants, and I’ve tried to make it at home more than once, using various recipes I’ve found online. There is NO bourbon in bourbon chicken, I can tell you this as a fact. I haven’t been able to duplicate that sticky sweet brown sauce yet, but I did become hooked on Maker’s Mark bourbon when I ended up with so much left over in the bottle.
I think the problem here is that most people don’t eat concord grapes. They’re not commonly a “table grape”, at least not in much of the US. I recently confirmed that the incredibly sweet, candy-like grapes I’d had this summer were, in fact, concord grapes. They most definitely tasted like high-quality grape candy.
