There were a couple laughs, but it just didn’t capture the wonderfully cantankerous feel of the Twitter feed. In my head, the Twitter feed reminded me somewhat of Joe Cabot from Reservoir Dogs. In the sitcom, the dialogue just turned into standard sitcom quips. It lost its bite – it still had some wittiness to it, but the “Why? Fuck you, that’s why,” edginess was gone.
Shatner doesn’t work in that role, because he has an air of not taking himself seriously. To carry the kind of lines from the blog, the speaker has to be a genuinely cantakerous sonofabitch.
I liked it, I thought Shatner did a great job. It had first episode awkwardness, but I think it will smooth out quickly.
For me the first was rather mediocre. But I find that to be true on most new shows, so I I give them a few episodes to catch their stride. (Except for Mike and Molly which was bad enough that I won’t bother again.) I’ll watch a few more.
They need to add hotter chicks. Get Natasha Leggero in there.
Oh, and apropos of nothing, but Will Sasso looks like Jake the construction worker chef from MasterChef.
Love the Shat but I thought Stacy Keach did it better on Titus. The rest was too sit-com-y.
