Plenty of blood in the Diablo series.
Hmmm…did I just turn this into another D1 vs. D2 thread?
Assuming you’re not limited by platform or easily offended, try Blood and Blood 2 (both for the PC).
At least you mentioned it. Anyone who is unfamiliar with Diablo would have to assume that D2 would have to be gorier, since it is newer and “gore technology” has progressed in light years since the development of D1.
I’m partial to Quake, especially 3, but 1 is good too.
Then there’s the Carmeggedon series. You gotta love a game that rewards you for killing your innocent victims in one big group, or in a particularly violent manner.
Silent Hill… scarier than Resident Evil, with dead bodies and weird-ass, twisted shit everywhere (whoever thought a simple wheelchair could be so scary?).
Serious Sam… the largest body count for each individual level I’d ever seen (in a first-person shooter, that is).
Aliens vs. Predator… if you’re the Alien, you can bite people’s heads off. If you’re the Predator, you can blow them in half. And if you’re the Marine… well… you can die a lot.
Quake 3… the biggest advantage this game has over Unreal Tournament is that Q3 has a LOT more giblets flying around. It’s far more satisfying to see your foe blasted into a million pieces than it is to just see them slump over dead.
There’s plenty of blood in Blood. Also in Blood II.
Soldier of Fortune
GHOUL engine is cool. Blow off arms, legs, groin, make the intestines fall out. If you want gore, pick of soldier of fortune and start blastin away with the shotgun.
Where’d you get a copy of Thrill Kill? I thought that was never released.

Postal: That game was just weird…
Like The Fromesiter said, if you want blood and guts, you can’t do better than Soldier of Fortune. Not a bad shooter all around, but the gore is definitely its big feature.
IIRC, Quake2 had some blood and guts flying around too.
Well, if you’re not just looking for FPS, then I humbly recommend one of the Carmageddon titles.
Fallout and Fallout 2 have some pretty funny death scenes.
Not so much on the gory part, but Bad Mojo had amusingly sick parts. It was an adventure game/puzzle, where you played top-down perspective as a cockroach. Crawling over dead rats, navigating a maze of food spatter that’s been sizzling and overflowing on an unattended stove, that sort of thing.
Sealemon88 beat me to Carmageddon, the first of which being the best. The pedestrians were ugly sprites, but it had a level of manic depravity that beat out the better-looking sequel. Although the second did have the benefit of cat-and-mouse bonuses, which you got by knocking limbs off the pedestrians before finally killing them. But not even people who liked the first two gave number three good reviews that I’ve heard, never played that.
Hazel: There were copies floating around on Hotline and, in all probability, on the Internet somewhere. It was a truly sick game. If you want something that plays the same way (4 person brawl), the Wu Tang Clan fighting game (forget the title @ the moment) used either the same engine or one remarkably similar.
My pick on Dreamcast is Guts’ Rage: Sword of the Berserk. The blood level is slightly lower than, say, Resident Evil. However, in Guts you get to swing a sword around which is twice the size of your character. Chunks of your enemies fly around and splat on walls. Turn up the bass and have a hack-and-slash party…
I must second Silent Hill for the PS. It is, by far, the most terrifying game I’ve ever played, and I’ve played through it at least 10 times.
I tell myself, each time, “I will not panic, I will not panic,” but sure as shit, even though I know what is going to happen, I panic and end up running like a madman.
RE2 is the best of the series, IMO, don’t look any further for improvement. The rest are either easier, harder, or less scary.
I will also second the motion for Aliens vs Predator. Everyone I know who has played that has screamed like a little girl. I recommend being the marine, however. If you happen to have an Atari Jaguar they had a version which was incredible. On of the best games I’ve ever played, and on a crappy, fake 64 bit system no less.
hazel, Thrill Kill needs to be imported and played with a mod-ed PS. Not really worth it in the long run, but it is a short-term fun game.
Carmageddon TDR2000. It’s not a shooter; you drive around in a turbocharged Corvette attempting to wreck other cars and kill pedestrians. The more cars/pedestrians you waste, the higher your score. Killing a pedestrian is actually a little tough. You can drag him along, spraying blood all over until he dies. Or you can sideswipe him and watch him hop away on the one leg that didn’t get torn off. You have to whack them several times before they finally give up the ghost. When they do die, they leave a puddle of blood–and if you drive through the puddle, you’ll leave a bloody tire track behind. Sometimes they’ll even hit their knees faster than Monica Lewinsky on crystal meth and beg for their lives. They make a meaty THUMP sound when you centerpunch 'em. Pedestrians do crazy stuff like mooning you, flipping you off, etc.

I know there’s a game that recently came out where you chop up enemies and beat them with their severed limbs, but I say screw the blood and guts and get Deus Ex. The violence will be sufficient, and you’ll get an incredible game to boot.
Which is gorier, RE2 or Silent Hill? And which is scarier? I played RE2 for days, and it scared the shit out of me, but only played a few hours of Silent Hill. Sounds like SH is worth digging into a bit more. Please, no one spoil any plot lines! I also hear Alone in the Dark gives RE2 a run for the money!
Thrill Kill is a game I never played, only heard about, but based on the screen shots, its a gore fest. The more I research it, it seems like if it were never banned, it might not have becomes that legendary. I’d still love to play it though! EA sucks for never releasing it. :mad:I’m suprised it never has been released as a PC game.
