Blurry vision during long conversations

I’m not sure if it’s a tumor in my head or what but I’ve always had this problem… any time I am speaking with someone, usually a 1 on 1 conversation with lots of eye contact (E.g. getting scolded by the boss, in an interview, etc), my focus seems to blur after a while and then it becomes really difficult to continue the conversation unless I step aside a minute…

Does anyone else encounter this phenomenon or anything of this nature? If not, just what might my brain be telling me at this point?

Perhaps you are not blinking enough? I’m not sure why that would lead you to feel unable to continue the conversation though. I get a similar thing sometimes (the need to leave the conversation), I get an “itchy brain” if I have a long conversation with someone about something I’m not interested in.

Migraines?

WAG part 1 is that you don’t use your eyes very much that way. I’ve heard that people who don’t read a lot feel sleepy when they do because they’re using muscles to focus their eyes at a distance that they ordinarily don’t and likewise, moving them side to side. Maybe it’s a similar thing, that you’re not used to focusing at that distance for prolonged periods.

Part 2 WAG would be psychological. You mentioned two situations—being interviewed or scolded by the boss—and both are stressful. Some people use sleep as a method of escaping, sometimes without realizing they’re doing it.
