So someone posted stolen material and faked his own death in order to incite a reaction.

No, my post is as I made it. You can bet a million bucks that had I provided a link then Skippy would have given me a outrage drenched warning.
On the older version of the software that was in use before Wally “died,” the last access date wasn’t visible. This particular clue didn’t come to light until much later.

As tomndebb mentioned, a direct link in the thread would have been pulled. If alluding to the homepage in a members profile is wrong, let me know and I’ll not do it again. Perhaps it’s considered tantamount to posting a direct link, since there’s only one click separating the two.
I got nuttin against Wally, even if he "faked’ his own “death”. But can we get rid of the :wally ? Since by fiat, we can now use it ONLY in the PIT, and some posters have got into mild trouble by unknowingly using it elsewhere, why not just drop it? We need an “ecch” smiley anyway.
I think it would be kinda cool to have a new smilie for Wally, one showing a crushed can of pineapples.

If he was a troll, he was the longest-lived most unusal troll, ever. Trolls tend to flame out quickly, and usually don’t garner much respect.
He wasn’t a troll, he just got in over his head with lies and plagiarism and took the easy way out.
I like the idea of replacing the putz with a puking smiley too. Also, I’m glad not to have to read the “much beloved poster” crap anymore about him.
I signed on here shortly after his death, but this is the first I’ve heard that there was some controversy. Back then, I searched for threads about him, saw the post from the daughter, took it all at face value, and haven’t really thought about it much since then. I managed to miss any discussion of whether he was a plagarist or still alive.
It’s also a stupid and meaningless smiley. It has neither the bite of “putz” because it’s WINKING nor the cuteness of a wink because it’s saying “putz”. It’s just pointless and lame. It’s also poorly done–look at the conversation bubble–no one even bothered to remove the black line between the bubble part and the little hook that comes down.
OK, now I’m throroughly confused. Maybe it’s been too long, or maybe I had too much to drink at the Christmas party (in the Dallas, Texas, area about five years ago) where I was pretty sure I met Lynn Bodoni, but… they’re the same person?

Oh, yeah, well I had Lynn actually in my house. Let that be a lesson to you, potential trollers. When you do something really bad, they don’t just warn or ban you. They show up in person. I think there was a baseball bat involved.
Actually, Lynn is a very lovely, classy person, who’s a pleasure to talk to and who has never threatened me with a baseball bat. That I’m aware of.
Hmmm…take a look the the two quotes below. The first, posted by Lynn in this thread, and the other, posted by TubaDiva from another “Wally” thread.
Ignoring the obvious use of “in fact” in both posts. Pay close attention to the capitalized “A” in “And” in Lynn’s post, then compare that to the capitolized “A” in “Apparently” in TubaDiva’s post. It’s almost indentical in the way “they” type their “A’s”!
Coincidence? I think not!
