Ok, this is just bizarre. Maybe she broke out and walked off? What possible reason would anyone have to do something like this?
I’ve heard of grave robbers. They are usually after jewelry or other items buried with the person. But breaking into the coffin before burial? That’s a new one. AFAIK
I had a distant relative that got dug up and buried in another state. Her daughter couldn’t stand having her buried near her ex husband. She got the necessary legal paperwork and had the body moved almost a thousand miles. The empty grave and headstone is still there. It was a typical husband/wife dual headstone. I see it anytime I visit my other relatives. It’s a family cemetery with a lot of my maternal relatives buried there.
I like the way that they make sure that you know how old she was. They mention it in the headline, in the picture caption, in the first paragraph, in the second paragraph and finally in the third paragraph they mention that it happened on her 26th birthday.
And, not to put it too crudely, but she could have been “used” six ways from zero, stuffed back in the box,and cremated along with all… traces. Stealing the body seems pointless.
Oh come on. I’ve lived in Illinois and in Texas, and the Texans are rank amateurs when it comes to voting the dead.
I wonder if someone in her family didn’t believe in cremation? There are a certain number of people here who think if you’re cremated you are not going to have a body when the time comes to rise (or some such thing) so maybe that was the issue?
