Body of woman, 25, stolen from casket in broad daylight in Texas

Ok, this is just bizarre. Maybe she broke out and walked off? :stuck_out_tongue: What possible reason would anyone have to do something like this?

I’ve heard of grave robbers. They are usually after jewelry or other items buried with the person. But breaking into the coffin before burial? That’s a new one. AFAIK

Dispute over what to do with the body, à la Graham Parsons?

Could be.

I had a distant relative that got dug up and buried in another state. Her daughter couldn’t stand having her buried near her ex husband. She got the necessary legal paperwork and had the body moved almost a thousand miles. The empty grave and headstone is still there. It was a typical husband/wife dual headstone. I see it anytime I visit my other relatives. It’s a family cemetery with a lot of my maternal relatives buried there.

People can do some pretty vengeful stuff.

Is this a zombie thread?

Victor Frankenstein, desperate for a date?

Or Tom Petty.

I like the way that they make sure that you know how old she was. They mention it in the headline, in the picture caption, in the first paragraph, in the second paragraph and finally in the third paragraph they mention that it happened on her 26th birthday.

I’m still more amazed that aceplace manages to find this weird shit to post on the Dope!

What??

… you really have to ask?

ETA: The pics in the article should give hints.

New, on AMC: “Walker, Texas Danger!”

(If she seems odd and says “brains”, put it on full-auto and Let Her RIP!!!)

Commercial tag line: “…I never thought Texas would need more guns…”

World War Z; I knew it would start like this. No signs of forced entry? How about shuffling exits, huh?

(Most states I would be surprised at a story like this. Having been in Texas for extended periods I just surprised it took this long.)

Meh. Necrophilia’s dead boring.

If the Patient Zero for a zombie outbreak would be in Texas … I don’t think the outbreak would last very long.

And has the motivation.

‘She could have been used two or three more times!’

Yeah, there or Florida, the poor zombies would definitely starve.

And then Iron Man pooped in his armor and they all laughed and went home.

And, not to put it too crudely, but she could have been “used” six ways from zero, stuffed back in the box,and cremated along with all… traces. Stealing the body seems pointless.

Nah, they took her to get registered to vote. Dead voters are quite influential in Texas elections.

Oh come on. I’ve lived in Illinois and in Texas, and the Texans are rank amateurs when it comes to voting the dead.

I wonder if someone in her family didn’t believe in cremation? There are a certain number of people here who think if you’re cremated you are not going to have a body when the time comes to rise (or some such thing) so maybe that was the issue?
