Boehner - Obama trying to annihilate Repubs- Bitch & Moan, do something about it

Oh come on- I don’t think it was a “liberal wet dream”, but it was a solid push for the American variety of liberal policies. I doubt there was anything significant advocated for in that speech that you disagree with.

Bingo. His tan screams “I’ve been on the golf course more than I’ve been at work”, except the tan is so fake it also screams “but I’m lying about going outside.”

True, lots of words have more than one definition, and/or can be used to convey varying degrees of potency. So sure, you can use a dictionary to find a meaning in what Boehner said to fit exactly what you wanted him to mean. Or what you want us to think you wanted him to mean.

But I don’t buy it. “Annihilate” is a powerful and emotional word, that does indeed call up images of ruin and destruction in most minds. And I fully believe that’s exactly how Boehner intended it. The Repubs have been dealing in hyperbole and fear-mongering for years; why stop now?

Let’s assume all that is true; what do you think Boehner was expecting? The Republican House (and Republicans in the Senate) have been stalwart obstructionists since day one of his administration. Why should he bother courting them when they have made it plain that they’re not interested in compromise?

Dude, we’re not the ones shouting stupidity from the mountaintops. We don’t have to “want” to find it. The Republicans are throwing it out in the streets. We just pick it up.

So Obama is a constitution-shredding socialist Kenyan Muslim freedom-hating dictator coming for our guns…AND a bully capable of *destroying *the Republican Party?

Wow! You guys are screwed.

Seriously, this kind of whining is pathetic and beneath the GOP. You guys need a leader with testicles.

CHRISTIE IN 2016!!!

I think this is what pisses me off the most about The Right. For the most part I’m ok with people who passionately believe in different stuff than I do, but ever since Bush I handed over the keys to The Big House to Billary the Republican Party has been little more than a platoon of nasty bullies who cry every time the teacher keeps them from blacking some kid’s eye.

As someone who’s been repelled to the left, I can totally see why welfare-esque government programs irritate the fuck out of middle-class working folks (not to mention upper-class loafers). Frankly I’d appreciate not doling out a substantial chunk/month for various taxes & social security, but until a proven alternative to wealth redistribution that takes care of the poor, the retired, and business of running a government is advanced, I’m willing to live with it. So far the only certain result of Repiublican-sponsored legislation is “…and the poor take it up the ass but it’s their own fault for lacking the moxie to pull themselves out of the ghetto.” And I can’t imagine what life could possibly do to me that would make supporting that level of human suffering appealing.

So yeah, booh-fucking-hoo Boehner, et al. It’s just another flavor of capitalism, bitches: adapt of be annihilated.

eta: This, a Brazillion times, This:

Yeah, he has them, but he’s never seen them.

Christie is OK by comparison, he has spasms of integrity and intelligence, and they speak well of him. He has his moments, but they are moments.

Republicans are very good at using smoke and mirrors.

Is that code for hookahs and blow?

Christie isn’t going to win nomination. He does not believe that practicing Islam makes you evil and even defended a Muslim judge. He might even (gasp) be okay with gun control and he has demonstrated that he believes that there is a role for the federal government to play.

Shame on you, stealing that line before I had time to think of it.

Yeah, Christie is an everything-eating surrender to common sense monkey. He has no chance.

If they were annihilated by definition 2 they’d be down to 100 seats or so. Not much chance of that happening, and not much chance of the Dems pumping in money to get seats in Alabama. Losing a majority is not exactly annihilation by any definition.

Notice that McConnell wanted to defeat Obama outside of any policy issues, while the Inaugural Address spoke of important things to get done without any mention of beating anybody. If the public is for them, which they mostly are, and if the Republicans lose seats by obstructing action on them, they have no one to blame but themselves.
So Boehner is trying to scare the base with baseless hyperbole. And if he actually believes it, he is a cry-baby and a moron. Or is he so stupid that it just dawned on him that the minority wants to be the majority?
I think it is classic bully behavior myself. The House has been blocking everything, voting down Obama care 20 times, and all in all being morons. Now Obama has eaten the election results spinach, they are saying “let’s be friends.”

Thanks for getting it, I wasn’t sure the logic was followable.

Orange-skin is no particularly intelligent operator, on that we agree. However I think it patently obvious the only thing Obama cares about with regard to the GOP is trying to push them out of the House in two years, I think he’s probably regretting he squandered his time controlling both houses by not pushing more legislation through and realizes this is his last chance. I doubt he cares what happens especially to the GOP after he leaves office, aside from some vague concern for issues and policies he supported while in public life. But I imagine his real concerns are during his administration, and that means the 2014 mid terms.

Annihilate is used all the time in sports, and no one actually thinks people are talking about one of the teams being destroyed, never again to return.

If I was Obama I’d be going after every contestable House seat from day one, pumping money and influence into their strongest possible contenders and doing everything possible to get them to commit gaffes, expose relationships with unsavory elements and etc.

Ah, if political writing were like sports writing! Obama murdered Romney! He cut his heart out and served it up steaming to the fans! He knocked him out of the ring and into the cheap seats! He pantsed him for everyone to see! The Republicans are below the basement and into the sewers! Obama might just as well have won the Nobel Peace Prize!

(Oh, wait, he did!)

You’re a dingbat.

Uhh, Martin… it appears that a significant proportion of the ‘mouthbreathers’ here on SDMB are of your persuasion. What can be so wrong about hoping for the ‘annihilation’ of the Republican Party if conservatives long for ‘a government small enough to drown in a bathtub’?
