Bollywood songs [edited title]

and dance too -

Chanson!

Sorry. I’ve done too many crossword puzzles. Whenever you see a clue like “Nice song”, you automatically assume they’re really looking for the French word, i.e. the word for song as spoken in the city Nice. It’s in about every other puzzle.

nice.
enjoy one more cool song -

Yes, they are nice songs. You should have titled this thread “Bollywood songs I like” or something. There are tons of great ones. I could swear I’ve seen those male and female leads in other films, but I couldn’t figure out where. I would have bet money the guy in your 2nd link was in the fun Indian zombie movie Go Goa Gone, but he wasn’t.

Here’s my favorite. I wish I could dance like her, though it would probably give me brain damage.

“Jaan Pehchan Ho” (familiar to fans of the movie Ghost World)

1st song has Hrithik n Priyanka. second has Prateik babbar and some newcomer amy jackson and go goa gone had saif ali khan, kunal khenu and veer das. you might have thought prateik was kunal maybe.

Yes, should have titled ‘Bollywood songs I like’. There are many many songs that i’d like to have shared with great great music, voice, melody, depth of lyrics, some great vintage stuff etc but unfortunately they wont translate well here. So I only share songs with some catchy beat or dance or picturization.

Here are some more (randomly) -

old ones -

I’m not going to click on all those links (titles would help :)), but I’ll assume that the trippy Bollywood drug anthem “Dum Maro Dum” is one of them.

Those links are work place safe.
not the original “Dum Maro Dum” there’s some part of its remix in 2nd track that i gave.

check out tujhko jo paya and its cover.

Right, they are many links now. I will give titles from now.

Bring Me Back - Yo Yo Honey Singh

The one Bollywood song that always gets me tapping my feet is the remix of Deewangi Deewangi from Om Shanti Om. I have no idea what they’re singing (except for the English part, of course), but I find it hard not to move around when I hear that at an Indian wedding reception. I guess I’m a sucker for melodic techno-style dance music.

Nice!
Check Mundian To Bach Ke by punjabi MC for dancing. Dancing track for sure.
Check beedi, saadi gali. These are very nice dancing songs too. Also check out songs of yo yo honey singh on youtube.

Thanks for the great recommendations! I am quite uneducated/inexperienced when it comes to Bollywood but I do enjoy the soundtracks, particularly Om Shanti Om (which was my introduction to the genre).

Ooh, nice remix! The original is subtitled here.
I also enjoyed this one (Koi Tumsa Nahin, from Krrish, which features a lot of great tourist shots of Singapore).

very nice.
Check out Aap Ki Nazron Ne sung by India’s greatest singer ever - Lata Mangeshkar.

Little translation -

Aap(you) ki(of) nazroon(eyes) ne(marks that eyes are the subject) samjha(found) pyaar(love) ke(of) qaabil(worthy) mujhe(me) , dil(heart) ki(of) aye(O) dhadkan(beat) thahar ja (do stop), mil gai(found) manzil(destination) mujhe(me).

Your eyes have found/deemed/viewed me as being worthy of your love. O my heart’s beat, stop, I have found my destination.

Yep, I’m very much familiar with that song. It got decent play outside the Indian music scene (in the UK in the early 00s, I want to say, and then a little bit later in the US with Jay-Z, although I’m not sure if that’s anywhere near as well known in the US as the song originally was in the UK.)

I know both of those from hearing them at Indian weddings (although I think I know a different version of the second one), but I never knew their names, so thanks!

But what about Kishore Kumar? (I don’t really know anything about this, but when I was in India in January for a few weeks, I got to talking about music, and Kishore was talked about in such reverent language that I’ve never heard any English singer spoken about. It was quite interesting.)

Sorry for three-in-a-row, but Desi Girl is another fun one that gets me tapping my feet.

Coke studio India season 2. That’s what you should hear. It’s on YouTube. I would share a link, but on my phone.

Right, Famous in UK but not so much in US.
It was still playing in a London club that I visited last year.

welcome.

Kishore, Rafi and Lata - mostly these 3 are talked about as no. 1 ever, more number of people will favor kishore than the other two but my all time fav is Lata.

Here is one song of Kishore -
O(oh the) Mere(my) Dil(heart) Ke(of) Chaen(tranquility)
Chaen(tranquility) Aaye(comes) Mere(my) Dil(heart) Ko(to) Dua(pray) Kijiye(do)

Oh the peace of my heart
Pray that my heart finds peace
