Books I've been waiting for. List yours!

From what I’ve heard, it’s crap. It starts out good, then totally bombs out in the middle, with a slight uptick by the end. “Spider Robinson guzzles the wrong Kool Aide” is how one Heinlein fan put it.

I actually thought it was pretty good. The naysayers I’ve heard seem disappointed that it’s not ‘true’ Heinlein. But honestly it has to be viewed as a Spider Robinson book with a strong dose of Heinlein. Viewing it any other way is unfair to it and to the authors.

Especially in the afterward when Spider reveals that he got an outline to work from that didn’t have an ending!

I hope it’s worth the wait. Dark Gods wouldn’t have been.

The only books I’m looking forward to are kids’ books: Harry Potter VII and A Wizard of Mars by Diane Duane.

Well, I haven’t liked any of Spider’s work since he blew up the bar, and the review I read of it told me enough that even if it had just Spider’s name on the cover, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it. Before I read the review (which was highly detailed, BTW), I thought I might be able to enjoy it as a “light frothy souffle.”

Harry Potter 7
The Last Dangerous Visions
A Wizard on/of Mars–Diane Duane
Sixty Days and Counting–Kim Stanley Robinson
Anything from David Brin
Anything from Robert Charles Wilson

Count me in!

Also, the conclusion to Maria V. Snyder’s ‘Study’ series. Yeah, it’s Luna, yeah, the love story is utterly improbable and kills the hero’s character and the heroine is an original Mary Sue, but I wanna know! It’s decent fluff!

Don’t know why, really, but Anne Bishop is continuing the Black Jewels books and I want to read the new ones. Her new trilogy tries to copy the formula but just falls flat.

Here’s some information from 2006.
Yes, I was reading the series too.
