Boomer Esiason Fired From "Monday Night Football"

No replacement has yet been hired. Who would you like to see replace He Of The Silly, Convoluted Opinions? (I think that’s what the name “Esiason” means.)

Bring back Don Meredith!

When all else fails, ask Cecil.

Ditka. Now that would be fun.

Ditka AND Jerry Glanville. Oh yeah, baby.

To me, Ditka would be extremely opinionated, which might play well against Al Michaels. I think he might be a good choice.

However, Glanville is an ass. He has no business in either coaching or in football. As a Houstonian, I abhor him and what he (along with Bud Adams) did to football. We’re just now repairing the situation with our new football team.

I have another, more serious suggestion: Keith Olbermann. Guy’s funny and he knows his sports.

Di-ka!!! I’d love to see him give it a shot, but I imagine he’d need to cut his teeth on a lower profile gig than MNF.

I didn’t hate Boomer, but he certainly won’t be missed. I wish they’d have dropped the boom on Dildorf and Gifford as quickly.

The only guys I really like listening to are in the college game. Dan Fouts is really excellent, but I’d hate to lose him on Saturday. Keith Jackson is great, but no way he belongs anywhere but on Saturday mornings. I don’t think any of the coaches are worth a shit, Seifert, Walsh, Schottenheimer, Glanville etc. all suck fat cabybara scrotum. Players in the past have been good foils against the real broadcasters. Cosell and Merideth were unmatched.

Do you think Art Donovan is available?

Excellent recommendation!

Fat capybara scrotum? That’s hilarious!

what i’d really like to see is two drunk guys in the booth with al, one from each city. now that would be worth staying up to midnight for, cuz lord knows the game never is.

I think OJ’s looking for a job.

Just wanted to mention, I stopped at Albertson’s today, and when I got out of my car I saw a leather glove on the ground.

The firing of Boomer completes a prediction I made earlier this year in the Pit (too lazy to try to find it); that he would be shit-canned and replaced with Jimmy Johnson.

Why they fired Esiason is pretty obvious. He was OK, but OK isn’t good enough for MNF, which has always set the standard. But why did they fire their producer and director, too? That was the big surprise, I thought.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Ditka either, but I think he just agreed to join CBS’s pre-game group.

Jerry Glanville gives me hives.

I second the Art Donovan nomination!

ART IN 2000!!!

Plunging like stones from a slingshot on Mars.

we’re agreed then- Art Donovan will replace Boomer. Toward the end of his tenure, most every play reminded Boomer of something that happened to him- this got old real quick.
