I’m looking forward to this. It’ll be interesting to see how “edgy” it will get.
My son, Zoltarb, is about ready to bust.
If the teaser commercial they are running can be believed, then it will be up there with the strip. Jesus wasn’t black and Ronald Reagan wasn’t satan, but it seems to be what I would expect from The Boondocks.
And I would like to say that I really like the style of animation that I have seen in the commercial.
Two weeks ago, I stole one of those BOONDOCKS ‘teaser’ print ads off a MARTA train (the one where Caesar is saying, " I didn’t mean @#$%%&@#!! in a disrespectful way…") and hung it up on my wall at home. I’ve really been looking forward to watching this show. There have been so few African-American animated features worth watching in my lifetime. (Bebe’s Kids was aiight. The PJs sucked. I am convinced that last one I really, truly enjoyed was either “Fat Albert” or the “Billy Joe Jive, Super-crimefighter” segments from Sesame Street) I have high hopes for this one. I’m just hoping McGruder delivers on the scripts and that they’ve picked good voice actors.
That’s Caesar, is it? I thought it was Riley with his new cornrows.
party store. I admit I arrived at the conclusion it was Caesar by process of elimination. Riley wouldn’t apologize for cussing and Huey has a big-ass 'fro. The kid in the ad had anime-stylized dreads.
I’m glad I found out about this. I’ll have to remember to watch. Hope I don’t forget!
Looking at the character guide on the web site, it appears that Caesar is not on the series.
Well, he wan’t originally a character in the strip, either, so maybe we’ll see him in season two.
I am definitely looking forward to this. Although I’m a little thrown by the voices from the ads. A little lispy for my taste. But I definitely am looking forward to episode 8 (as described in the episode guide).
Susan
Meh, can’t touch Little Bill for animated urban edginess.
Huey in the commercials sounds incredibly cute, which adds a bit of surrealism to what he says. He’s probably not supposed to be cute, but I find that commercial funnier than the Ripley ones.
Didja see the episode where he joins a gang, becomes “Lil’ B” and busts a cap in “Moesha?”
They did have one good joke in there, though.
“It’s a bird! It’s a plane!”
“Nah. It’s Super, man.”
I hope we’ll see him. Although I did notice that the web site character guide doesn’t list Jazmine, but she appears in some of the plot descriptions. Same with Tom DuBois. So maybe there’s hope for a Caesar addition somewhere down the line.
I am glad Jazmine’s in there, though. The Huey-Jazmine interactions are hilarious.
Well, I finally managed to see an episode thanks to Friday Night Fix. Episode 3, I think. “The Garden Party.” And I don’t know what to say. I’ve read the comic off and on over the years, and I remember why I didn’t always like it. Well, maybe I’ll watch it a few more times if it keeps coming up available for streaming.
missed it, damnit
gotta get a TiVo i guess
?? It’s not supposed to debut until Sunday November 6.
phew, Asterion’s post threw me for a mo :smack:
