One of the things I miss from Windows 3.1 was the ability (in Control Panel) to change the look and feel of the borders around windows, shape of buttons, and similar things.
Nowadays, when I have two windows overlapping each other, the borders around a window are so thin and hard to see that I often close (i.e, click the X in the top right corner) the wrong window. Sometimes that is merely annoying, and sometimes it causes me to lose work that I’ve been working on.
Is there a way to change this? I wish I could change the line around each window to make it more visible.
Woo hoo! I’ve been wanting that since Windows 95 came out! I can’t wait to try it out at home tonight!
Meanwhile, if anyone has other suggestions, feel free to post. Thank you!
Agree with BigT. This is probably the easiest method. You’re making changes to the registry. Winaero Tweaker does this for you, simplifying the matter. It’s a free tool to download.
Find the setting under ‘Advanced Appearance Settings’ > ‘Windows Borders’.
You may also find the additional setting, ‘Window Title Bars’ useful. You may have to log in again for the setting to take effect.
This works on your Windows OS windows, not browser window borders.
Heh,heh.
If you like that you may also like ‘Open Shell Start Menu’. With it you can revert the appearance of Windows 10 start menu & Explorer to look & behave like good old Windows 7. I would assume Windows 11 as well.
