In July my team will be stationed in Waltham, Massachusetts to work on an organic farm servicing lower-income families. We’ll be about 20 minutes outside Boston, so if there are any Boston Dopers who’d like to hang out for a day, let me know.
For your sake I really hope you won’t be here during the convention!
When in July?
July 7-21, if I’m not mistaken.
Whew! I think you’re safe those days.
I might be up for something, I’ll keep an eye on this thread
What sort of thing did you have in mind? If you’re thinking dinner or drinks on a weeknight, it’s not impossible that I could be persuaded.
tdn, dinner sounds lovely (remember I’m 19, alcohol isn’t really an option), and I was thinking of just seeing the sights and exploring the city sometime, if anyone would like to hang out.
I live in Waltham and would totally be up for meeting some dopers! There are a ton of great restaurants on Moody St. There’s the Watch City Brewery - which serves meals AND booze. Just pick a date and let me know, I’m there!
Problem with me is I don’t have a car, so if we meet in Waltham I’d need to figure out a way to get there.
A weeknight dinner in Waltham wouldn’t be hard for me to make, as long as I know about at least a week before.
We’re working on something for a trip to Salem,MA in that time frame, too. Got to go find that post and bump it I guess.
I lived in Waltham for 8 years after college many moons ago. Would be up for a dinner there, depending on the night. Mondays or Tuesdays would work best for me during the week.
Excellent! tdn, AmericanMaid, Redwing and Pammipoo, how does some Monday or Tuesday night dinner in a couple of weeks sound?
In case this helps…
The 70 bus from Central Sq Cambridge (via Watertown Sq) stops in Waltham Central Sq about a block from the Watch City Brewing Co. end of Moody St.
The 170 which runs from Dudley station via Back Bay station to Oak Park stops in Waltham Central Sq. It’s an express bus, $1.75 fare or bus pass + 0.85 cents. Not sure if the Combo pass covers it, or just the Combo Plus.
The Fitchburg commuter rail line stops at Waltham Central Sq as well (the Waltham stop). It’s a Zone 2 fare.
Also, the 505, 553/554 and 556/558 express buses from downtown stop in Waltham Central Sq.
All those options are convenient to the restaurants on Moody St. Hopefully some will also be convenient to where you work or live, and not take you 2 hours to get to Waltham!
Hi y’all,
I’ve sent an email to most everybody in this thread, but in case it doesn’t go through or I couldn’t find an email address for you, I’m posting this here. I’ve arrived in Waltham and am still interested in a get-together. Please let me know when everyone would like to meet – I’d love to meet more Dopers.
