Boston Legal 11/13

Now that Denny has fired an employee for being fat, he must defend himself in court with Alan’s help.

And I am surprised that the flamingos actually won that case.

There were two other cases going on, but they were not all that interesting.

Alan’s “the one” is already involved. Figures.

Anybody out there?

I’ve officially given up. Spader is terrific (though, sorry, not Emmy-terrific–not anymore at least), but the show is a wreck.

The show bit off way more than they could chew trying to fit the Race case in one episode (juggling 2 other cases along with it), plus the closing for the defense was miserable (she’s the worst actor on the show), and then…ta da! They won!

We never see Laroquette in the courtroom, and now that we do, it’s over this? Are you kidding? And I’ve grown to despise Henry Gibson’s judge–his character’s never funny, and it is a transparent excuse to have wacky courtroom hijinks. Blech.

Spader’s closing was great, of course, but what a waste of talent. What could’ve been a provocative case was instead turned into an exercise in questionable courtroom protocols and severe stacking the deck (fat judge! surprise!)

And the two romantic subplots were both buzzkills as well. I hadn’t seen the show since the 1st season, but had heard enough things to make me hope it would be worth giving it another chance. I was sorely mistaken.

Me too. That was my last show I will waste my time on. This season has been a 100% disaster.

A shame you missed last season, as much as I am sick of the show now, it had some great ones just last year.

This, unfortunately, was by far the worst show of this season. First five minutes, last five minutes, thanks and good night. :frowning:

The race case was ridiculous. No opposing expert for the brain scan device? His racism or lack thereof was irrelevant anyway. He could just as easily go trigger happy on a white suspect. If I was on the jury I might have been tempted to vote guilty for the shooting on it’s own merits, depending on what the exact charge was. But I would have to vote not guilty in this case just for the reason that they brought up the ridiculous brain scan device. Speaking of which, does anyone know the reality of this device? I know there’s some new MRI method of detecting lies more accurately, but racism? I wonder how well formed the test is. I can imagine that anyone would exhibit more fear looking at photos of black people if the photos they selected were tough, mean, angry looking black men mixed with smiling nerdy white men. Is there a broad spectrum of racial types, gender, and apparent personality? And fear may lend itself to some amount of passive prejudice, but it doesn’t guarantee active bigotry or hatred.
