Wow, that was a great episode. I absolutely loved the part where Denny shoots the bad guy, walks over to Alan and with a big smile on his face says “Denny Crane.”
“It feels good to shoot a bad guy, something you democrats will never understand.” says Denny later on.
One of my favorite episodes so far. Though the near-kiss thoroughly lodged one of my favorite poems in my head for the rest of the night (Pablo Neruda - Alliance (Sonata)). Certainly my own personal association, the poem’s nowhere near well known.
“And do you know who I saw in that moment?”…“Liza Minelli.”
This is only the second time I’ve remembered to watch Boston Legal, but I loved it, particularly the Alan Shore/Denny Crane! interaction. I couldn’t get into the courtroom story tonight, but those two characters are just riveting every moment they’re on screen, and Spader and Shatner work exceptionally well together. Of course, all three women on that show are supermodels, which is a bit distracting, but I’d happily watch Alan Shore and Denny Crane! stuck in an elevator, chatting with each other for an hour.
Police officer: So when you took him out, did it look like he was going to shoot Mr. Shore?
Denny Crane!: Of course not! Why would I wait for something like that?
This has become my favorite show. Exceptionally good writing. The court case with the woman who was accused of shooting her husband was exceptionally well done. The arguments were intelligent, believable, and both sides were very good.
And yeah, Shatner and Spader could host an hour show reading the phone book, and it would be interesting to watch.
I only caught the second half (and have missed several other eps recently), but I hope this is the start of the incredible Ms. Mitra getting more screen time. And do you think James Spader, say, 13 years ago, would’ve ever expected to be headlining a TV show with T.J. Hooker?
I’ve had a hard time getting into this spinoff, but I caught the 2nd half of last night’s episode and must agree that it was spectacular. Riveting, touching & downright hilarious, all rolled into one.
My husband’s and my favorite line was: “I’m an ex-Marine. I was a trained sharpshooter… or was it a pilot?” We replayed that line 4 times and laughed harder and harder every time we heard it.
