Oooooh…Alan helps his client sue the U.S gov’t because said client was tortured at a detention camp.
This should be a good one.

Who’s the actress playing the judge in Alan’s case? She looks familiar.
I am taping it to watch tomorrow, so I can’t say. Is it the same young blonde gal who’s been on the bench the last few eps, or someone different?
Judge Bernadette Peters presiding.
Jerry Espenson singing the Boston Legal theme music has to have been the funniest thing I have ever seen on TV. Thinking of it even now brings a smile and a snicker. I can’t think of another show that has a writing staff that can go from this sort of self-parody to some pretty intense social commenatary in the same episode. I thought Alan’s summation of the Guantanamo situation was clever and biting. This episode ought to compete with the old Shatner kinescopes one for Emmy consideration.
The actor playing Jerry is wonderful. I wish I knew his name.
The writing has gotten better and better on this show.
Denny holds some truly appalling views, but he is the necessary “mouthpiece” that forms the contrast to Alan.
According to IMDB, the actor is Christian Clemenson.
And I completely agree - he is becoming one of my favorite characters.

One of the interesting things they do on the show is introduce a seemingly minor or one-off character, then take him in an unexpected direction.
My favorite lines from this episode:
DENNY: A woman knows these things.
ALAN: Denny, you’re not a woman.
DENNY: Whatever!
The creepiest thing about this episode is that they didn’t have to make up any of the ungodly bullshit being spouted by representatives of the U.S. Government regarding Guantanamo Bay. If you could take this episode back to 1997 and show it to people, they’d think it was an unlikely near-future satire. They’d also say, “Hey, Bernadette Peters still looks pretty good. She’s gonna be, what, 59 in 2007? James Spader is a little puffy, though.”
I didn’t see the Ep (I never can remember this show is still on!) but here it is for everyone else to enjoy.
And here’s Christian Clemenson’s title tune (he won an Emmy last year for his stint on BL).
Outstanding!! Ain’t that a hoot?
“Awriiiiight!”
