A bit predictable, but yes, it was a good episode.

They didn’t show any previews at the end of the episode; isn’t it on next week?

I agree that the Lisa Greer thing was too much. Up until then, they’d managed to portray her as a mature, adult young person and you really started to think that her relationship with Milton was, perhaps, okay to an extent. (Not that I recommend this type of thing.) She was someone you could sort of cheer for despite the shortcomings.

Now, that said, I would also add that I sure wouldn’t cover Harry Senate’s actions and lie along with him. Nor would I have covered for the killing if I were Harry Senate.

As for Guber…I was surprised that the principal was laughing at him. That was a pretty mean trick and despite the fact that it took a lot of foolishness on Guber’s part, I still felt pretty crummy for the guy.

Lipschitz (sp?) is seriously losing his mind, though. If I had an employee like that, I don’t know how I’d get through the day.

I think Harry Senate better start opening up to Lauren or he’s going to bust his chances with her. Marla was remarkably normal this episode.

I don’t like Harry Senate - I just can’t find much very likeable about his character. He seems to have smarts about some things but lacks all knowledge about how to treat people he supposedly cares about. I think I’d find him annoying irl.

I like the show

Tibs.

Yeah i know what you mean. I am not too fond of Harry Senate either. He’s portrayed as the type of guy everyone would want as a teacher (the morgue, suicide club, etc…) but he’s too…I don’t know. The things he says are all true, teacher’s not getting the respect they deserve, but he himself is tiresome, and I know I’d get pretty irritated with him as my teacher. He oversteps his boundaries too much.

Also- I agree- Stephen Harper shouldn’t have laughed at Guber. That was rather cruel.

Sigh. This whole thing with Lisa- it’s getting out of hand. She’s going to cover this up? Not a wise thing to do.

Lipshultz is pretty crazed. Still, that whole “She said he was built like an elephant” thing with that English teacher (Jenna?) was amusing. Kind of creepy though. I wonder what teachers say about us behind our backs in real life. I should hope nothing like that.

I liked Senate for the first couple episodes. The gun thing was great, and he seemed like an all-purpose comedic relief asshole. Now he’s way to involved with EVERY student, giving advice during half of his screen time. It gets old. The characters are all just getting more and more extreme. I’m waiting for Guber to become a Nazi, Lipshultz to start forgetting who he is, Senate to cry every time he talks to a student, Davis to just say “whaaaaaaa” for an hour, Maralyn to show up at school in her bra and panties, and Harper to announce daily over the intercomm the reasoning behind every one of his decisions.

Chiming in as another addict here.

I have to say, I’d like to see them get away from the student/teacher inappropriate-sexual-behavior thing. We’ve now had 3 (count 'em) plots like this (Harry Senate kisses student, Milton Buttle SLEEPS with student, and cheerleading coach falsely accused of molesting student.)

I also thought the trick played on Gruber was really cold, but I can’t blame Steven for laughing. I mean, really!

I do have a problem, too, with Harry Senate hiding that the kid killed someone. I know he was concerned with keeping the kid alive, and I hope never to be in that situation, but I would have a hard time risking my career/life, basically, by being an accessory after the fact.

Still think it’s a really cool show, though.

I didn’t bother to watch this week. I know TV is not real nor is this show supposed to be a documentary, but CRIMINY, can’t the characters at least be consistent and believable?? And can’t they deal with fewer sexual crises?? We decided to quit watching for our daughter’s sake too. She doesn’t need to be exposed to such crap, despite the “teaching moments” it may provide. Anyway, she thinks it’s kinda lame too…

I had high hopes for it, but I’m disappointed now…

I agree with you, FairyChatMom. I find this show to be more unbelievable than Ally McBeal; at least that one is clearly a fantasy show peopled by obvious caricatures.

What’s up with having that Lisa chick teach a class? From what I can figure out, she’s not leading a class for a day or acting almost like a TA would in college (still bizarre for HS, but somewhat possible in “TV Land”): she’s teaching the entire class and has been doing so for several months. First, even if nobody in that one Shakespeare class said anything whatsoever to anybody else in the whole school (yeah right, HS students are so good at keeping their mouths shut), has nobody in any of the regular teacher’s other classes noticed that he hasn’t shown up? Hasn’t anyone in Administration noticed that a teacher hasn’t shown up since November? WTF??? How completely stupid and unbelievable is that? And second, now that the Administration does know that Lisa’s been teaching, they just keep letting her? That is just from Mars or something - no school in the country would ever agree to that, and neither would the teacher’s union. This whole show is just so dumb it makes me scream. (And no, I don’t watch it every week, but I keep thinking there must be some redeeming value since so many people love it.)

Yeah, so unbelievable…woaaah. Actually four student/teacher sex plots- counting the one where a teacher fantasizes and thinks he’s sleeping with a student and writes her in his will, but isn’t really.

Is it just me or is Big Boy the most least likely guy I’d confide in if I was a student? Wait, I mean, i AM a student, so if he was my guidance counseler, I’d never go to him. He creeps me out. I could never confide in that dude.
