Botticelli #40

No.

No, and I don’t know who you mean.

No, and I don’t know who you mean - sounds like a Gilbert & Sullivan character but I’m drawing a blank.

Yes, yes, and no, but I don’t know who you mean.

Yup, take six DQs.

Hmm, I don’t think ‘M’ has another name, so I guess you mean someone else - take a DQ.

Yes and YES! I am Milo Minderbinder, one of the stars of Joseph Heller’s Catch-22, which is one of my all-time favourite books. I knew it was only a matter of time once you guessed Major Major.

For completeness, I believe the answers to all astorian’s DQs are “no”.

Well done, Biffy, thanks to everyone for playing!

Ok - having only read Catch 22 once (and that was a few years ago), I never would’ve gotten that.

But (without reading the wiki - yeah, I’m lazy), he is the guy who gives a guy his share on a napkin right?

Right.

Good book, nevertheless… should try to get my hands on it at the library.

Thanks for the game, Dead Cat! Funny how I was so close with Major Major. Starting new round in 3…2…1…

Yes, Bond’s boss is usually just referred to as “M,” but his full title and name is Admiral Sir Miles Messervey.

Congrats to Biffy! I should’ve guessed that.

At least one would have deserved a “yes” answer – Joseph Heller was of Jewish ancestry, although I don’t know if he practiced the faith.

The reference is to Maureen McCormick. On The Brady Bunch, sister Jan (played by Plumb) once petulantly exclaimed “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!” when exasperated by the fact that McCormick’s character was generally perceived as the most beautiful, talented, and all-around wonderful of the Brady sisters.

Good spot - I think I just skimmed it (as the game was over) and missed the “creator” part - I don’t think Milo himself is Jewish. Had the game still been “live” I would have researched a bit more closely. Nothing worse than one of these games where a wrong answer is given that misleads everyone! Although in this type of game, it’s likely not to matter so much as the correct person will generally crop up at some point anyway (because IQs do not have to “match” known information).
