Botticelli, June 2011

I am not Janis Joplin. I’ll need DQs for the others.

So you’re not Jack DeJohnette.

DQ: Are you an American?

I was “Born in the USA”
But I am not John Callendar.

Callendar was not related to Jefferson; I was thinking of John Marshall.

So “J” is:

  1. A real person
  2. Born in the 20th century
  3. Female
  4. Born in the U.S.

etv78, please keep this list updated as we go, as past players have done.

DQ: Alive in 2011?

IQ: Did your dad have remarkable mechanical abilities?

IQ: Are you the driving force behind the band Weather Report?

She is still living

Don’t know about her dad’s mechanical ability, need DQ
She is not the driving force behind Weather Report.

IQ: Are you the granddaughter of vaudevillean Mickey Katz?

I am not related to a vaudeville performer.

To review: She’s a living person born during the 20th c. in the USA, who’s not a member of the band Weather Report, and is not related to a vaudeville performer.

Then you’re not Joe Zawinul.

DQ: Are you a political figure?

She’s not involved in politics.

IQ: Are you a musician noted for playing a chainsaw solo?

I am not Jesse Dupree.

IQ: Did your best known orchestral work lie unperformed until the mid-19th century?

I am not involved in classical music.

Umm, we seem to have some confusion here. IQ stands for Indirect Question. Indirect Questions do not depend on any aspect of the name you have chosen, other than the initial letter, in this case ‘J’. IQs can be any gender, time period, fictional or real life…

If you can answer the above IQ with a name which fits the question (whether or not it was the specific answer I am thinking of), then you don’t owe me a DQ. If you cannot, I have to tell you who I have in mind, and unless I can be proven wrong, you do owe me a DQ.

D’oh! :smack: Knew I screwed that up! my bad. Need a DQ then.

Ah, so you’re not Johann Sebastian Bach, whose Brandenburg Concerti 1-6 were written in 1720-something and didn’t see the light of day until ~1850. Bach sent them as a ‘job application’, having neglected to investigate whether the Margrave of Brandenburg actually had an orchestra at his disposal. They sat in a storage area of the library for years…

DQ: Are you famous for athletic accomplishments?

I am not an athlete.

It seems you are not Jane Jacobs.

DQ, then:

Are you well known as an author?

I am not an author.

Note to all players: sorry that I am so bad at this! It’s not my intention to ruin the game.
