Give it to @SCAdian. They think they know who this is, and that will give them a firstname-lastname question.

Okay, folks, seems like no more incoming DQs. I’ll be traveling tomorrow and Saturday morning, so get your firstname-lastname questions in by, let’s say midnight Eastern on Saturday October 12th.

Well, it’s not Ampere, Avogadro or Angstrom…

Niels Abel was Norwegian, so he’s out.

DQ (courtesy of knoodler): Are you Swiss-born fish-and-glacier scientist Louis Agassiz?

Good guess.

@SCAdian had an idea that they knew who this person is, and they were correct! Yes, I am Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz, a Swiss-born ichthyologist, paleontologist, and geologist, coiner of the phrase “Ice Age”, founder of the field of glaciology, the first geologist to recognize the extent of continental glaciation in Europe and North America and the effects of glaciers on Holocene geology, opponent of Darwinism, who ended my days as a much-beloved professor of zoology and geology at Harvard.

@SCAdian bears the bell away! Well-done!

Ah, well done, SCA! I’ve heard of him but probably wouldn’t have guessed him for a lonnnng time.

Glacial Lake Agassiz is the best place name ever.

Well done!

Great pic, SMV. Masterfully done, SCAdian!
