Bought an RV, dinette table won't lock in place

First of all, I realize that I would be better off asking about this in a dedicated RV forum. I’ve been trying to register at one, and it requires me to respond to an email notification to complete my registration. I keep clicking to resend it, and the email never arrives.

So, I’m going to try my luck here before going through any more hassle somewhere else.

My wife and I bought a 2025 Keystone Cougar trailer recently. The dinette table will not lock into place. We keep forgetting, and lean on the table to heavily, and it suddenly drops down.

The manuals that came with the trailer have nothing to say about the table at all. From looking around online, my understanding is that the lever mounted on the underside should flip into a groove in the track running along the center of the table, locking it into place. But mine looks like this…

…which seems completely nonsensical to me. The lever does nothing. Furthermore, when we raise the table as high as it will go, even if the lever were to fit into the slot, the slot is not clear for it to do so:

I hope that all makes sense. Here’s a broader picture for the setup, for good measure:

So… am I missing something here?

I’m really hoping this is something I can fix myself. We leased a spot out on the coast, 70 miles away, and that is where the trailer lives. I am not going to drag the trailer all the way back here to where we bought it, not just for this!

Barring taking it back, why not call them? That looks like a really cheap-assed table setup, but it’s a Keystone so I’d expect it.

Looks like, at the very least, the track is installed in the wrong place. Needs to be shifted away from the hinge so that the notch is not blocked by the white plastic piece when the table is up. The locking rod might need to be moved too, so it lines up with the notch. Shouldn’t be too hard with an electric drill or power screwdriver.

Seems like the locking handle is just installed wrong. It’s supposed to be inline, like this:

Still kind of a cheap-ass design, and the handle depends on the friction of the mounting brackets keeping it from rotating downward, but I guess it would work.

Yes, dr strangelove found it. Heres manual

Awesome, thanks everyone for confirming it was installed wrong. I think I can deal with it.

Seems like a pretty easy fix. No idea what the original installer was thinking. I guess you could put it at an angle as long as the 90-degree part on the far end still fit in front of the slider, but that would put lateral forces on it and seems pointless. Besides, that’s not what they did.

Make sure that the brackets are set as widely apart as possible. Otherwise the thing will slide forward and back, either not locking it at the full height or allowing it to slip forward and not locking it at all. Shouldn’t be difficult to get right, though.

For your future problems (and you will have them) I’ve found keystoneforums.com to be very helpful.
