Bowlers....inventing a new bowling term

Not sure if this is the correct forum, I’ll try here since I’m requesting something of the reader, not just sharing my thoughts.

As far as I know there is currently no official term for a spare obtained with a gutter ball the first throw, and knocking down all ten pins the second throw.

My family uses the term “Sprike”, and we’ve started using it on our bowling team. I am asking all you bowlers out there to start using this term in your leagues to see how long it takes to become a nationally recognized word.

We’re thinking of having a “Most Sprikes per Game” award on our last day of bowling to speed things along.

We always call it a “hockey stick”. Cuz, it 's scored like this

Actually, it looks more like a hockey stick on the electronic scoring system becasue the slash only comes down to the dash.

Umm… not that I’ all that familiar with gutter balls.

:dubious:

Hey, I never heard of it called a hockey stick before. That’s a good one because it matches the sports themed “touchdown”.

Saying I got a sprike on a hockey stick sounds way less depressing than admitting to a double.
