I’m a conservative and I support Bush, though I still don’t feel we should boycott the French. Although I disagree with them it would be rather childish to boycott their products. Also, as for popular items from France, how about lingerie and champagne? I know you could get these elsewhere, but they’re still good.

I think probably that world economies are too interwoven for the US to want to carry this too far. Don’t bite off the nose to spite the face.
Many of the French are probably enjoying giving us Yanks a hard time. ( “What are these freedom fries that the Americans are so aggitated about? Do they think they come from France?”) If we really wanted to “hurt” them, shrugging it off would be most appropriate.

You fromage eating Liberal! I’m in!
Another product from France: perfumes. Y’all can all send me bottles of L’Huere Bleu if you decide to participate in the boycott-boycott. It’s the patriotic thing to do. Hurray for the Red, White and Blue! (Oh…and for the Stars and Stripes too, of course.)
I’m against this war, but just so that I can show support for my country, even though I may not agree with it, I will now refrain from quoting obnoxiously from and making sly references to my Asterix comics. Of course, all I have are English translations, but it’s still the principle of the thing.
This boycott is really stupid because it isn’t the French government making these products. You are harming the manufacturer/seller of the product, who may support the war. You are harming all the people in the US who make money from the import.
Good point, Revtim. Rather than confronting the governments, we should boycott products that come from nations where the predominant view amongst the people opposes the US foreign policy. Since, by all accounts, this is very nearly universal, it will have a robust effect on our trade imbalance!
Huh? I said we shouldn’t confront the gov’t? Where? Do you think boycotting French products is confronting the government? Last I checked, France was a country where the private citizens, not the gov’t, own the manufacturing plants. Those are the people being hurt by the boycott.
