Braaaiiins, Pilgrim.... (Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare)

Yes, another Zombie game, but this one’s set in “The OOOOLLLLLLLLDDDD West” in the Red Dead universe, this is my first RD game, and I’m quite impressed, the physics engine is good, the graphics are rather…realistic, and it’s just plain fun to be riding my horse around the plains (yes, you can actually ride a Zombified horse in the game, it doesn’t tire like a living horse, but it’s also a little harder to control than a living steed, sometimes it wants to go where it wants to go, and ignores your input on the reins)

the controls take a little getting used to at first, and are a tad complicated (left stick walks/steers the horse, right stick moves your “head” around independent of where you’re walking, left trigger aims, right trigger fires, the right thumb buttons change depending on if you’re on foot, or on horseback

once you get used to the controls, the game itself is rather good, for some reason the recently dead have been rising from their grave, and the lead character must find out why…

a lot of the zombies look like they were inspired by the Left4Dead zombies, there’s the “common” infected which are typically swarming the towns that dot the praries, but they can also show up in the praries as well, typically attacking people out in the frontier, as well as “special infected”, Jockey, Boomer, and Spitter type zombies, as well as the aforementioned zombified horses, and other wildlife, dogs, cougars, bison, goats, all zombified

if you find a group out in the fields that is under attack, you can help them out by gunning down the Undead hordes, or leave them to their fate, but bear in mind, that prospector running from a zombie you ignored while you were riding from town to town, may just remember that you didn’t help him when you meet again, or maybe he’ll be a zombie the next time you see him, and he’ll be wanting to take a chunk out of you…

Then there are the “interesting” little frontier encounters, that husband and wife with a little tent and campfire in the middle of nowhere… the husband has his wife shackled by the neck to a pole… 'cause she’s a zombie…

If you gun her down, saving him from being eaten, he’ll get angry with you and start shooting at you because you “killed” his wife, so you have to fire back in self defense, or flee…

Overall, it’s a great game, I picked up the self-contained version on disc, as I don’t own the full RDR, the disc version is a “lite” version of RDR, and is not as deep as the full version, but it’s also a lot cheaper ($30 as opposed to $60)

This might be a fun game to set up a Doper match with

The co-operative ‘Undead Overrun’ online game is quite fun, if ultimately futile. They will eat you.

I’m deadfred77 on the PS3 if you fancy a game.
