and why did the girls have the last name of Brady?
They were adopted.
Wonder what kind of strange goings-on occurred in Alice’s mysterious, rarely seen, off-kitchen bedrrom? Hmm…wonder if Sam had a secret entrance to the boudoir so he could “deliver the meat” w/o the rest of the family knowing?
Anyone else ever notice that despite 9 people living in the house, they only bought quarts of milk? Someone would fill up a glass and the bottle would be 3/4 empty. Maybe ALice’s other job was running to the grocery store every 15 minutes.
On a sociological note, do you think any shows today will be such cultural touchstones as this one? I mean, if you’re a certain age, you can probably name every episode, line of dialogue, and plot point there is. I don’t see any shows today having that kind of effect.
Seinfeld, The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Friends have seen-every-episode, quote-every-line followings.
I don’t know about X-Files, there. The first few seasons were great, but eventually the alien conspiracy stuff got too convoluted and paranoid for most people to follow.
I highly suggest reading Barry whats-his-name’s aka Greg Brady’s autobiography “Growing up Brady” came out in the early 90’s and HIGHLY informative… I liked the section that Greg talked about taping one of the episodes completely and utterly stoned out of his mind - something to do with fixing his bike… got it past Sherwood Schwartz though…
