3 Q's for Brady Bunch Fans

a) On the show, who was younger? “Bobby” or “Cindy”?
b) In real life, who was younger? Lookinland or Olson?
c) What did Robert Reed die from? A recent article said it was colon cancer, although he was HIV positive. I thought it was well known at the time he died of AIDS. What do you recall?

I don’t get why you linked without answering his questions. And I don’t think your link answered everything. What was the point?

Based on your link and my own searching, I think the answers are:

a. Bobby
b. Lookinland
c. Colon Cancer, though he had HIV.

A follow-up question (for someone who is willing to actually answer and not just provide a link to google) is:

How was that established? Was there an episode where they discussed their relative ages?

a) My impression is that of each pair of kids, the girl was the younger one (Marcia is well-established as younger than Greg). The not always reliable IMBD states that Cindy was 6 when the series began, while Bobby was 7 The Brady Bunch (TV Series 1969–1974) - Plot - IMDb

b) Olson was born in 1961 (Susan Olsen - IMDb), while Lookinland was born in 1960 (Mike Lookinland - IMDb) , so Olson was the youngest of the cast

While we’re on the subject, who played the mother, and who played the housekeeper?

Don’t even need to google to answer Florence Henderson and Ann B. Davis.

Also, who created the show and did he do anything else I would have heard of?

How many kids did the Brady family have?

and what was their last name?

Bunch

I always thought it was Butcher.

And how did six kids survive with one bathroom?

[kidding]

I remember an early episode that explained this. Marcia was using the bathroom, having locked the boys’ door. Back and forth, from her room to the bathroom, playing loud rock and roll (the safe lyric-less pseudo-surfer rock television played at that time to denote “bad” music.) Greg wanted to use the bathroom. He knocked. He pounded. He pummeled the door. Finally he kicked it in, and Marcia shrieked … he got to see her in her slip. (Was that bad? Didn’t the audience get to see her in her slip for the whole skit?) Mom and dad defused the situation, as they were wont to do, perfectly, without yelling or smacking them. Then they decided to get a bigger house … . Well, that sewed up that plot point, for the rest of the run.

I remembered the Grand Canyon vacation episodes the other day. As I remember, they drove the station wagon to the canyon, pulling a trailer and with their luggage on the roof. It slightly amazed me that the nine of them fit in the car. Presumably, there was a front bench seat, and there must have been a pop-up seat in the back. Today, I think that cars that can seat nine are rare or non-existent.

And no toilet.

My parents had a Country Squire in the late 80’s/early 90’s. It could have uncomfortably fit 9 people. Three in the front (there were three seatbelts up front), three in the back and then in the way back there was two seats (facing each other), but you could put two people on one side and one on the other. Come to think of it, I think we filled it up that full a few times trying to get two families wedged in there for a quick trip to the pool.

I drove a used '68 Mercury Commuter for many years - same vehicle, basically. It would fit eight comfortably, ten if two kids wanted to squeeze into each rear jump seat.

Loved that car. Still miss it sometimes. One of those dependable mules that would kill itself doing whatever you wanted and never quit.

Various websites say that the Bradys’ car for the Grand Canyon trip was a 1971 Plymouth Satellite. Anyone know what the rear seats looked like in that car? Because Google Maps says that the trip today would be about eight hours on I-40. I wonder how uncomfortable the kids would be for that trip.

The OP has a long history of posting really easily Googled questions. He’s been warned for it and he’s been pitted for it.

The character Cindy was the youngest. This is clearly referenced in the theme song. “The youngest one in curls”.
