I’m looking for a part-time job I can do from home and hit on the idea of braille transcription. I gather there is a machine that you type on like a regular typewriter that produces braille. Has anyone done this? I’ve looked at a few websites that offer classes but they don’t say if there’s a big demand or how much it pays. I can call a service in my area but I thought I’d ask here too.
A girl I went to high school with had a Braille embosser to do her schoolwork. It had about 6 or 7 levers which she pressed in different combinations, not a keyboard. The school had a better one, an electronic one (still the same principle, 6 or 7 keys), but she didn’t use it - liked the one she’d had since kindy better.
But I’m sure there’s software about to do that, because I watched the maths teacher making up some sheets for her on a computer using a program called Braille Master. You’d have to get an embosser.
I just looked, here 'tis.
Can’t help with the other questions though.
Good luck!
