Can brain aneurysms be caused by a knock to the head? I reckon they can but I aint sure. Cheers!

Sometimes.

Thanks. Additional question:

If one sustains an aneurysm from a head injury, how long have they got before they know about it, if they know about it at all?

it all depends on how bad the aneurysm is, the location of the aneurysm, so on and so forth…

Depends. For it to be detected, it has to show symptoms. For it to show symptoms, it either has to leak, or enlarge so much it presses on adjacent structures. If it leaks too fast, the presenting symptoms are usually headache, coma, then death. Often within minutes. If it’s pressing something vital, it depends on what it’s pressing on, and how hard. If a cerebral aneurysm is a concern for you or someone close to you, a discussion with a doctor might be the best way to get the facts.

wow, thanks

Vascular malformations may be caused by trauma, but the formation of a post-traumatic aneurysm is less likely than the formation of an “ateriovenous malformation” (AVM).
