I ain’t smiling bandit’s “fellow traveler” by a long shot, but I must confess that I’m at least at half-mast for Chavez because, unlike other thugs on the U.S. payroll, like Hosni Mubarak or Pervez Musharraf, this douchebag is the one who’s loading up on Sukhoi Su-30 jets and Tor-M1 anti-air defenses while coming to New York and calling our Fearless Leader (also a douchebag, but he’s our douchebag) “the devil” and calling on all of Latin America to rise up against the Evil Yanqui Overlords.
I believe he’s been pitted for this before, and yet continues to do so. (At least, the starting threads with some link and political article/editorial, and just doing the “what do you think” crap)
However, I do take issue with the “liberal” part. What difference does it make-the style of his posting is what’s really the issue. Let’s face it-liberals AND conservatives all pull this shit.
I like the rant, but ALL posters lose credibility when they classify large aspects of anything as complex as politics and international diplomacy as either good or bad.
Who cares? My point is that Chavez shouldn’t even be an issue. His conduct is more important than who does and doesn’t wear flag lapel pins, but that shouldn’t be an issue either.
C’mon fuck that “fellow travelers” shit, President Chávez is one scary dude. He’s a demagogue in charge of vast petro-resources, only he’s got no follow-through. Imagine Saddam Hussein without that awesome 'stache and you get the picture; Chávez is exactly what the US wants and he’s exactly where we want him.
Brainglutton is my Der Trihs Lite. You know, for when I want a nice dose of self-hating pinko commie guilt addict bullshit, but without feeling heavy afterwards.
Otherwise, this pitting is weaksauce. Let’s jazz it up people.
Yet. He is making the right kinds of pals who might send some of the good stuff, though.
Right. Operative word being “we”, i.e. the USA. You do know who makes (and licenses) the Sukhoi Su-30, right?
I don’t know about “we” in this case, but IMHO Chavez is nothing more than a blowhard who’s using petro-dollars and anti-Americanism to prop up his domestic support. But, if we’re going to be fair, if Bush is judged on his "Axis of Evil’ rhetoric and other associated “War on Terror” propaganda, then excuse me if I label an individual a douchebag who has, amongst numerous other statements:
“He [Chavez] even said recently that he could imagine the Sukhoi jets firing missiles at an American aircraft carrier off Venezuela’s main La Guaira port.”
Fuckin’ A he’s right! ‘bout time they did. The Latin-American oligarchies’ marriage to their American counterparts (to the detriment of the great majority of the exploited LA population) is past due-date. And the fact that he is “your* douchebag” doesn’t make any less of one.
Do you know why Ann Coulter and Michael Savage and Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh make millions talking about how liberals are mentally ill and hate America and how they support our enemies, because they want to see our nation destroyed? It’s because (a)the world is full of angry halfwits on both sides of the political fence and (b)shit like what you post ensures that they will never be 100% wrong.
To you, a non-American, it doesn’t. To me, an American, it does.
Let’s be grown-ups, shall we? Any way you slice it, nearly every person on earth will stick up for their country when it’s externally threatened. I don’t begrudge the IED-planters in Mesopotamia, or the tech-dudes working the centrifuges in Iran. Likewise, if some foreign asshole comes to my country and starts talking shit about us, then you’re damn right I’ll call him on it. It’s called “nationalism”. It used to be called “tribalism”. Good or bad, until (or if) humanity makes another leap in consciousness, that’s the way it is.
Meh, don’t worry about it. I could easily be wrong. Red is the guy who’s always threatening to kick people’s asses over the Internet and then whining like a little bitch when he gets called on it. Maybe I associated him with being American, because that reminded me of our foreign policy.
