He wrote something to the effect of, ‘You don’t even want to give Robben a penalty when he’s legitimately fouled, because of all the crap he pulls the rest of the game’
It isn’t a dive if you’ve actually been fouled. The defender clearly did go for the ball and catch Robben’s foot instead. A pretty mild penalty, but still.

I would say France have looked the smoothest and most confident overall, but have not faced the same quality opposition Germany did. It will be interesting if the meet each other in the quarter finals, as seems likely.

Questionable at best. Certainly no contact other than feet of the players, and not so sure on that. Robben took a dive and even the Russian judge gave him a 9.8.
‘other than feet of players’, as though that is nothing. You need your feet for walking and running and shooting, so especially there, contact constitutes a foul, and cause for a penalty. No dive; clear penalty.
He missed the bal and touched Arjans foot… bad luck for him.
I think all non Greeks are wanting this outcome. A more boring defensive average team than Greece is hard to think of.
Im glad the Dutch are through. I couldnt see them scoring before their 1st goal went in. Considering the heat and humidity they did really well; or got really lucky.
I didn’t think it was a penalty at first, but on re-re-reviewing, it is. Barely. If the ref hadn’t given it, it wouldn’t have been that egregious. But it is a PK. That said, Robben dove like he’s been watching a Greg Louganis highlight rel for the last week, thinking “fuck that, I can beat that”.

It is a dive if you dive to embellish it when you do get fouled.
Mexico should have known that every time Robben got in the box, he was going to look for a penalty. I could tell the instant that he got in the box, he was not looking to pass the ball. Just looking for a penalty. I don’t think that it was a legit penalty, but if you stick your leg near him he will go down. And if the leg is near enough to him, and/or makes minor contact, it probably will be called a penalty.
