They just showed a replay of the goal, and it seems like the Greek keeper got wrongfooted. His first move, at the moment of the strike, was to his right, but the ball did not come of the foot cleanly. I don’t think the ball went where the Costa Rican player intended; i think it was a bit of luck!
And now a red card. This will make it interesting.
Stupid to give up that second yellow card. This will be very hard for Costa Rica.

OTOH, since he’s out with the red for this one, should Costa Rica advance, Duarte is back card-free, right? Or is he sitting then the next one?

If you go to ground when nothing has been done that could cause it then it is a dive. As I said, I don’t deny there was contact, but I do deny it was enough to bring him down. So in going to ground he is throwing himself at the ground, which is the dictionary definition of a dive.
Whether this falls under the FIFA laws of simulation is a completely different matter. But it still was a dive.

I thought the second yellow was pretty much justified. He definitely caught the Greek player after the ball had gone.
All the yellows on the Ticos don’t help if/when they’re facing Netherlands next.

Oh, I thought that one was justified. I’m just thinking of all the yellows and whistling and fouling in this game overall. Including the one for the bench.
Yeah, it’s been a bit messy over the last 20 minutes or so.
I think that players being substituted should be required to exit the field of play as rapidly as reasonably possible. Many of them move towards the sideline as slowly as humanly possible. It’s incredibly irritating.
That free kick looked more like an extra point in the NFL. 
This has been a fairly terrible match to watch. Even Costa Rica’s goal was about as dull of a goal as you can have.
