I don’t know, the Greek defender’sbewildered expression as he watched the ball dribble over off a miscue is pretty priceless.
I don’t like it either, it makes the refs hesitant to call it and the players act to force the right call.
And now the Costa Rican keeper gets a yellow.
And Greece equalizes.
Holy shit.
Wow!
Extra time. F this stuff today.
Nice save
So after decades, it turns out we Europeans are all German anyway…
Hey, Costa Rican announcer. I didn’t quite hear you there. Was there a goal?
Thanks for your help in clearing up this matter.
Costa Rica is doing a lot of stalling. In the 2010 CONCACAF qualifying they had a 2-1 lead on the USA which would have sent them to South Africa as the third team from the Confederation. The stalling got so exaggerated and obvious that the coach and his assistant got sent off, and what should have been two or three minutes of added time became five.
With 20 seconds left before the whistle, the USA scored and sent CR to the play-in matches with (I think) Uruguay, which they lost. I hope they don’t do it again.
Fuck!!
Sometimes I really wish these matches were five minutes shorter.
I wonder what the odds were that there would be no Europe-Europe matches in this round? Seeing how many of them were in it to start , and how many were thought likely to advance.
This thought was inspired by the realization that I usually only root for European teams against other Euros, or Brazil.
The United States agrees with you
Good to see Costa Rica get punished for the ridiculous time wasting they’d been doing. Good on the ref for booking the goalie for it as well.
It’s 2 AM here. I’d just like to see it resolved before penalty kicks.
I didn’t see any of Costa Rica’s initial matches but they haven’t been very impressive today. I don’t think they can complain if they don’t go through. Whoever wins this will be a nice practice for the Dutch.
Oh, I wasn’t talking about the time change, I was making a “if matches were 5 min shorter we would have beaten Portugal” joke
They were impressive against Urugüay, which was the one I saw. They played much prettier than today, against a supposedly better team (sans Suarez, though).
Golden opportunity for Greece there.
Well, I would like Costa Rica to attempt to score instead of just Greece failing to score.
