Brasil 2014

They did indeed.

Oh Sergio, what a miss.

Take Iniesta for example, he’s only 30, but he’s been at the very highest level for a big proportion of his life. It must take a toll (not that he’s been egregiously bad here or anything).

<attempted post and edit went horribly wrong>

Just like Spain’s hope to defend their title.

Overall great defence work by the Chileans, including the keeper.

Oh well. Sic transit gloria mundi! As we say in Spanish, “fue bonito mientras duró” (= it was beautiful while it lasted).

Wow. The defending champions knocked out first, after just two matches. I suppose I feel bad for them, but it’s good to see threats out the way. Plus I have a bit of a soft spot for Chile, since they appointed me as their manager in FIFA 13.

Well, six minutes left. I could still eat my words, but Spain don’t look like scoring.

6 minutes of injury time. Of course it is.

And Spain is out of the world cup. Wow.

Good for Chili!

well, there’s another threat with Chile instead. They played a friendly in the spring against Germany, and we looked rather bad, and their effort today was marvellous.

Yep, of course. I’d rather play this WC’s Spain than Chile, and the assumption, of course, is that the surviving teams are the better ones. But on paper, at least, Spain would be scarier.

Oh yes, who would know that better than us Germans (think of 2008 and 2010: those were bitter defeats).

Yep, due to so much pointless time wasting from certain Chilean players. They earned the win, though. Was I ever wrong about this match up!

Wow…can’t believe that Spain is out.

Go Cameroon!

What an amazing Cup so far. Story after story lighting up the sports pages.

Well my first prediction has come true, I may have been optimistic on the second one though. I can totally see Brazil choking against the Netherlands or Chile in the round of 16.

Well I for one like you as an oracle.

This red card by Song is even stupider than Pepe’s.

Wow. This red card by Song is even stupider than Pepe’s.
