This is amazing.
All things must pass. Many of these Spanish players have been at the top of La Liga, the Champions League, the Euro Championships, and the World Cup for a long time. Mental and physical fatigue, maybe the dressing room spirit is broken too. It happens.
At this rate Chile are going to match the Netherlands’ goal difference too! They probably should put thoughts of who they might play in the second round out of their minds for now, though

Absolutely unbelievable. I mean its one thing to not get out of the group stage (though that’s shocking enough), but to lose in such fashion. Heck, unless they show some spark in the 2nd half, I can see Australia having a decent chance against Spain!
Too late to edit: a term that was used by German commentators after Spain’s thrashing by the Dutch was “Götterdämmerung”. Seems appropiate.
