The reason I thought 2-1 wouldn’t be enough for Ghana was that I read that the US would go through on head-to-head if they lost 1-0 and Ghana won 1-0. I extrapolated to 2-1 but forgot that would mean Ghana would have more goals scored.
That Ghana goal is bad news for the US. One more goal from them, and we’re out.

Germany definitely doesn’t look content to rest on their laurels. To be fair, given the current score lines the US would be foolish not to look for a tying goal, so it’s in Germany’s best interest to keep playing the way that has them in control of this game.

A second German goal would be likely meaningless as far as the US advancing, yes? Losing 1-0 or 2-0, and they’re out if Ghana wins. Losing 2-1 or drawing 1-1 and they’re in if Ghana wins 2-1.
