Bread Baking Question

I want to attempt to bake a loaf of bread. The recipes I’ve found call for using an electric mixer to beat the ingredients together at high speeds. I don’t own an electric mixer. What method should I use to accomplish whatever the electric mixer is supposed to accomplish?

Elbow grease?

Seriously. A mixing bowl and a sturdy spoon at first, then knead by hand.

Ok, cool. I know that sometimes I’ve substituted mixing techniques in baking attempts and things have come out not quite right. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything here. :slight_smile:
