A syringe I guess. Being a Bad Guy Assassin doesn’t excuse you from practicing safe disposal of sharps.
No one has mentioned the former lab assistant Gale? I can’t see Gus allowing a disgruntled meth maker to run free.
Eh, pay him his money anyway (I’m surprised this hasn’t come up, actually, since Walt’s paying Jesse from his own cut – how much was Gale making? Why doesn’t Gus ask or work out the details of Jesse’s “contract” or whatever other employment terms need discussing?), Gale will know the consequences of doing anything other than keeping his mouth shut, and assure him that if/when Walt “moves on” he can still have the lab and the job. I don’t really think Gale would be too much of a problem, what with him being a big geek, though I was pretty intensely creeped out by the icy death stare he was giving Walt when he got dismissed.
I’m not sure Walt had any control over the situation, but it would have been easier if Gale hadn’t seen who was replacing him. I’m sure he’s thinking why is this guy replacing me, when I’m a qualified chemist, and he’s clearly a loser. (And Jesse is definitely a loose cannon.)
Oh, absolutely. I was already uncomfortable during the conversation, then Jesse comes in obnoxiously honking around like a total douche, and I thought Gale might totally lose his shit. Actually, if anything, Gale might have been fine with leaving, but after seeing his replacement might now be inclined to do something stupid out of wounded pride. . . For example, Gus might let him go thinking he’s safe, because he normally would be, but now he goes out and gets drunk and rants about being done wrong, etc. etc. Or, maybe more likely, we just never see him again.
Loved Gus instantly breaking his cell phone in half after hearing the machine gunning of the Cartel guy. Cold blooded.
To be honest, Gale is probably just thinking that Walt likes young men and as such he’s probably quite happy to skedaddle.
And that cartel guy had to be well-protected. My guess is that Gus has control over some part of the military is whatever country that was. It just goes to show just how powerful he is.
That’s the second time in a week I’ve seen someone break a cell phone in half. Is it a symbolic gesture? Aren’t those calls on record somewhere?
I don’t know about Gale. He was stunned, but he didn’t seem worried. If he was concerned about Gus’s reaction, he didn’t show it. I was expecting “You gotta let me stay – Gus will have me killed!”
I’m sure Gus has most of Walt’s motives figured out. Gus is on Walt’s side, so long as Walt remains an asset. Even Walt lying to him, told him what he needed to know, just how careful Walt is. Gus probably even gets that hiring Jessie (and firing Gale) was necessary to prevent him from bringing down Hank. Which might provoke Walt to walk out on Gus. So Gus is keeping Walt happy, to keep him under his thumb.
I loved that Walt thought Gus was there to kill Hank. Then the revelation that he was there to kill off the remaining twin.
Also, the title of the show: “I See You”. Nice pun… the Twin saw Walt and made a desperate move to expose him. Also, both Hank and the Twin were in the “I.C.U.”
It’s fun to see how they play with the episode titles.
Oh, nice catch! I’ve been trying to figure out what else it might mean, other than the cousin seeing Walt, Gus seeing Walt’s lies, or whatever the non-pun meaning might be.
So, is there any chance that Walt will ever find out that Gus was behind Hank’s shooting?
I liked the parrallel of the twin crawling w/ no legs towards Walt to the first episode of the season with the people crawling to the shrine (and the truck driver trying to crawl away.)
There were several “I see you!” moments:
The twin sees Walt.
Jesse gets caught inflating his suit.
Gus sees Walt in the hospital and catches him in a lie.
I never got that impression. I don’t think he knew why Gus was at the hospital since he asked Gus if he was at the hospital to send him a message. I don’t even know what motivation Gus would have to kill Hank. But we know he had a big incentive to silence the legless cousin since he could’ve squealed to the cartel about who sicced them on Hank.
The motivation for Gus wanting to kill Hank is that he may know that Hank is actively trying to find Walt. He doesn’t know he’s looking for Walt, but that’s who he’s ultimately after. Walt thought he was doing this as a big “I know who you are” type thing (although offering a $10,000 reward and a few hundred dollars worth of chicken is a little over the top when a quick phone call would have sufficed). In reality I think that Gus would have done this even if was another DEA agent not involved with Walt or the case, it’s just what he does. He’s keeping the cops on his side…hiding in plain sight.
I can only assume it’s because showing them do the more useful thing- taking out the SIM card and running it through a Cuisinart- would take longer.
I kept waiting for Jesse to accidentally burn down the lab. Glad he managed to not screw things up that bad. I never really liked him and still don’t.
Gus just gets more and more interesting. I like him.
They probably use those prepaid ones from 7-11. It doesn’t matter if the cops get te call records or find the phone, they won’t know who it belonged to. On an episode of The First 48 this came up, so I know it’s real.
They should’ve kept Gale around, then they could work in shifts and keep the lab running practically around the clock. Sure, it would be another guy to cut into the profits, but I’m sure it beats having the lab sit there doing nothing any time someone’s brother in law gets shot up.
Burn Notice uses it as a plot device too; Michael keeps a box full of phones.
