Could they have been tracking his phone?
I have trouble imagining Hank or the Nazis taking that deal. And seeing as how Walt is alone and they’re heavily armed, he doesn’t have a lot of leverage. If Walt dies out there, his family will never get his money.
They’d have to take their hands off their guns to get out their badges. I can see why they didn’t want to do that. Good question, though. It’s a tricky situation, for sure.
Walt is the key for the meth. Lydia said the product has to be prefect. Even has to be blue. Only 2 people can make that happen, Walt or Jesse. Thats the leverage Walt has on the nazi guys.
They made a point of emphasizing the handshake between Walt & Todd’s uncle…I’m thinking Jesse is a goner at some point, and Walt doesn’t fulfill his end of the bargain - that’s why he’s arming himself in the last episode.
She blinded him with science.
I don’t know about “let”, but I think odds are better than even that Jesse makes it out. You could see him easing the car door open behind him as the mayhem starts to go down. I think the likeliest outcome from that setup is that he escapes into the desert while all the shooting is happening and the Neo-Nazis don’t have time to track him down. Especially once they find out Hank and Gomez really are Feds - neither they nor Walt have any idea that only those two ( + Marie ) know anything.
Of course the likeliest outcome is hardly guaranteed on this show.
I would have liked the episode to end with the standoff – no shooting. If not that, then quick hits on Hank and Gomez, and Jesse hightailing it in Walt’s car.
But to end with that gunfight? Nah.
There’s only three episodes left, maybe they didn’t want to waste the 3 or 4 minutes at the beginning of next week and they didn’t want to set up a gunfight now and show the end of it next week and lose the actual fight.
I thought it was perfect.
Ah, the M60 is definitely for the neo-nazis. This cinches it for me. I’m betting Jesse gets away.
So Todd and the Nazis are just going to cook in some random warehouse? No underground superlabs or ingenious plans involving tented houses? And food coloring, for crying out loud? Man, those guys are sloppy. I wouldn’t trust those bozos to run a lemonade stand, let alone a meth operation. Lydia must be having a chronic stress headache at this point.
Ah, the pain of being on the left coast and three hours behind everyone…

That was some atrociously bad shooting. Hank and Gomez should be dead already.
I don’t see how they can’t be anything other. The writers went out of their way to show how outnumbered and outgunned they were. Then again, that shootout should have only lasted about ten seconds. Hitler weeps for the future where the brownshirts have become such poor shots.

As soon as Walt gave himself up, I knew that the Nazis would be coming.
They’re really stand up guys. Probably would be good neighbors if you were the right skin color.

Maybe they find the money when they are digging a hole to bury Hank. Maybe Todd dies in the shootout and they really need him to do some cooks and they use the threat of harm to Walt Jr as leverage.
Yeah, I saw this coming a few a few episodes ago when Lydia was complaining about the purity. The Aryan Brotherhood needs Walt cooking for them so I assumed that they would apply some pressure but, lo and behold, Walt comes to them asking for a favor/job/contract.

I think it was that they didn't care. They seemed to be in "Never fear, the neo-nazi's are here' superhero mode.
I don’t think they’re that worried about killing a couple of LEOs out in the middle of nowhere. Not after the massacre in Arizona. Not with what, a hundred million dollars on the line? Like Jack always says, “Let’s make some money.”

I think Hank & Gomez are goners, Walt is going to let Jesse get away. When Walt was talking to the Nazi he asked "do you have eyes on Jesse ?" he never answered. Hank will be killed in the firefight, Gomez will be mortally injured and Walt will decide to finish him off.
Hank and Gomez have to be dead or I’m giving up on this show. Well, not really. But the writers go out of their way to make it look like a Butch and Sundance situation… well, they better have the cojones to see it through. Walt and Jesse I could see surviving, though. We still need to see Walt for whatever reason confess his role in Jane’s death.

And Lydia is hot.
True dat. But a little squirly for my taste. Not to mention high maintenance. Pretty sure her shoes a couple eps back were worth more than than my truck.
One other thing: We loved Todd’s “Blinded Me With Science” ring-tone which—BTW—was originally supposed to be the theme song for Big Bang Theory.
I also like that they taught Hank/Norris how to apply handcuffs by holding the cuffs in the middle around the chain so that they are more or less rigid.
I really thought Jesse was going to kick Walter in the nuts instead of spitting in his face. Walter still had his legs spread from the search.
One more thing: Todd wasn’t even aiming his handgun. As a sometimes shooter, that bothered me. It’s hard enough to hit something with a pistol when you are aiming. Pretty much impossible when you aren’t.
Three eps left.
I don’t see how the Nazis let anyone live. Jesse is a rat the the other two are Feds. Unless Gomie dies and the Nazis hold Hank and Jesse as hostages to make Walt cook for a while. That’s my official prediction. Hank and Jesse are held hostage and Walt goes back to work.
They’re not as resourceful or intelligent as Gus and Walt. They’re much more violent criminals than businessmen, but intelligent businessmen who get involved with Walt tend to wind up dead. These guys are less likely to let Walt negotiate his way out of giving them what they need.
I laughed out loud. There aren’t too many laugh out loud moments on this show these days.
I think Jesse really broke Walt’s heart. I actually felt sorry for him. Et tu, Brute?
Ya know what bugged me about Todd, he had both his elbows bent and there was no recoil. It was like he was limp wristing the thing and just clicking the trigger with no bullets in the gun.
Rewatching it, he sort of jerks his hands back a little, but not enough for how limp he’s holding the gun.
Also, I don’t think Gomez was hit. When he falls in front of the truck I thought I saw blood on him (the first time I watched it), but it’s just the way the sun and shadows play on his shirt, not blood. He gets up after that, and shoots again and ducks back behind the truck.
I don’t think they show anyone getting hit. I think next week will open with more gun fight.
They should have entitled this episode “The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight.”
I see a future for Saul as Junior’s consiglieri, when the kid inherits the car wash empire.
I’m guessing Jessie will back Walts car up so Hank and Gomez can get in and he’ll drive them away.
Nobody dies… Yet!
MtM
Yeah, that too. Limp wristing is pretty poor technique but it’s more of a problem for lining up your next shot. I was more bothered by the throwing bullets in the general direction of the target. In both instances, I think the writers/directors are attempting to show Todd as the callow nephew, not really used to this gunfighting thing.
Seriously, Hank and Gomie should be d-e-a-d, dead. Anything less will have me rolling my eyes.
Missed my edit window…
Jessie will start Walt’s car and pull a Rockford “J” and pickup Hank and Gomez and drive them out of there.
Hank will play the tape of what Walt said to Jessie on his way to the money (you know Hank was tapping it) and an arrest warrant will be issued for Walt (hence Walt’s house being a crime scene).
Walt will be “rescued” by Todd and his family, my guess is Walt will be some king of hostage or prisoner. Walt will convince Todd to free him.
Those are my guesses…
