Wikipedia article says that there is no indication that his “Praetorian” company ever had any clients, and that he has no background in military, LEO, or security.
You might not get that. The best you might get is what investigators can find on him. We don’t know what’s in his ‘manifesto’ yet & If he didn’t post a lot online you might not get your answers.
He failed to have a back-up plan. ‘What if I’m discovered in the act?’ He must have thought that police would be occupied at the previous scene, and he could just hopscotch down his list.
Looking at the archived link in Anne’s second posting the part that stood out to me was,
Social unrest assurance: this is not insurance, but assurance-when you become a member at any level-your membership is date and time stamped. During a time where everyone else may be looking for more security, our members are “assured” their security needs come first. Based on market pricing.
Translation: When the greasers, faggots, and child-murderers run amok and you’re scared for your life we’ll let you bid for our protection for only $659 to $2,400 a month but join now – they’re time-stamped.
I wonder how many gun-toting employees he had standing by to actually show up if there ever was a crisis.
Kudos to the BCA (Bureau of Criminal Apprehension) and all of the other LEOs who ran this fucker to ground. I hope the guy who had initial contact with him gets a medal for his fast thinking. BCA is like a state version of the FBI, who, if nothing else, are very good at criminal pursuit.
I wonder if his security company was pretty much nominal just so he’d be licensed to have access to stuff that’s otherwise regulated. Not just weapons but lockpicking tools, surveillance equipment, etc.
The Guardian says he also went to the homes of two other lawmakers:
A man accused of dressing up as a police officer and shooting two Minnesota state lawmakers in their homes – killing one and her husband – also showed up at the houses of two other legislators the same night intending to assassinate them too, authorities revealed on Monday.
The acting US attorney for the district of Minnesota, Joe Thompson, told reporters that as well as the early-hours attacks on the Hortman and Hoffman residences, Boelter was spotted at the homes of two other unnamed lawmakers, one a state representative, the other a state senator, in a “planned campaign of stalking and violence”.
At one of the properties, nobody was home, he said. At the other, he was confronted by a police officer who was called to make a wellness check, and fled the scene.
So it sounds like the cops were really on this - going to multiple other lawmakers’ homes to make sure they were OK.
