Not much news from the scene yet. I’m seeing reports of 7 dead. The site is a bar, apparently. Some reports say a white male is in custody.

It’s almost as if these mass killers WANT gun control.

What most of them want is to be heroes going out in a blaze of glory.
So when gun control is seriously discussed, let alone implemented, because “Y’all can’t behave” that’s exactly what they’ll do, in order to prove that they can behave… by killing dozens of innocent people, using precisely the kinds of weapons the pro-gun-control crowd wants to ban most, because killing more people will convince everyone that guns are safe and most definitely don’t need to be controlled in any fashion.
It makes perfect sense if you yell about killing minorities.
Correct me if I’m wrong - is this the third mass shooting in 24 hours?
Please tell me that’s a new record, because if it’s not I just give up.

Been there a number of times. And my daughter lives in Dayton Towers Apartments, which is a couple blocks east of there.

Or maybe it won’t; maybe it’ll be just another day in America, unfortunately. It seems almost “normal” now, like this is what we’ve come to expect, and accept.
I don’t see it this way at all; I think most of these people need a psychiatrist and are probably socially isolated. They’re not all the same either: the kid who shot up Wal-Mart in El Paso was homicidal but not particularly suicidal; the killer in Dayton, OTOH, seems to be suicidal. Mass shootings are often a suicidal act, as much as an act of mass homicide.
All of them law-abiding citizens, you know. Right up until the moment they weren’t.

Both shootings yesterday occurred in Death Penalty states. Looks like it’s not a deterrent after all.

But according to El Paso mayor, we cant talk politics immediately after a shooting, because, you see, memorials come first.

I drove up to Dayton for family obligations and to see old friends from Columbus. If not for extreme laziness on all our parts, we would have been at ned peppers last night. We talked extensively about going down there…woke up this morning to frantic texts from my mom.
I don’t get it. It seems like each shooting should shift the thinking of some percentage of those on the “pro-gun” side. I know that personally, I always considered guns to be a tool that could be used safely until one of the school shootings made me realize I was insane for thinking that.
Gun grabbers grab away. Take mine, ideally reimbursing me with a gift card or something. I don’t want to have to put on a flak jacket every time I run to the store.
