Breaking - The Queen is unwell (has died): 8 Sep 2022

That’s that’s what it’s like waiting to get on the Green Bay Packer’s season ticket list. It can take several generations.

Henry Charles Albert David - Harry for short . If he ever came to the throne he’d likely only be “King Harry” in an unofficial way. Henry IX or Charles IV would be the most likely actual choices.

an’ every one was a 'enery

This is the country where they planted new oak trees in anticipation of needing them in a few hundred years to re-build the dining hall at Oxford. I have no doubt that some Royal Pack Rat has a strategic reserve of anointing oils squirreled away somewhere.

this happened at windsor castle. double rainbow was seen at buckingham.

us flag at half staff for the next few days for the queen.

Chris Jackson on Twitter: “As the flag is lowered to half mast over Windsor Castle an incredible rainbow appears over the castle, for a few minutes and then just like that it was gone…. https://t.co/nOIQCAxWQQ” / Twitter

:notes:
Her Majesty’s a pretty nice girl
But she doesn’t have a lot to say
Her Majesty’s a pretty nice girl
But she changes from day to day

I wanna tell her that I love her a lot
But I gotta get a belly full of wine
Her Majesty’s a pretty nice girl
Someday I’m gonna make her mine, oh yeah
Someday I’m gonna make her mine.
:musical_note:

Yours was a life of duty, Your Majesty. Now rest in peace.

One of his middle names is Arthur, big lost opportunity there.

Shades of Tom Wambsgans and Cousin Greg!

And, just in case anyone doesn’t know, it will stand for “Carolus III Rex.”

Sabaton fans’ ears perk up… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

And Archie is now, Prince Archie, since he is the grandson of a monarch. Lilibet is Princess Lillibet.

Charles III is the King of the United Kingdom.
There hasn’t been a King of England since…320 years and 6 months (exactly.

Thank you. I stand corrected.

This is my favourite story about the Queen:

As for the name of the dynasty: That was discussed as early as 1960; the idea was floated at the time that, owing to the tradition of children being considered part of the father’s rather than the mother’s family, Elizabeth’s descendants would be the House of Mountbatten rather than Windsor, much the same way Victoria’s death meant the reigning dynasty changed from Hanover to Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Alas, no: The (now late) Queen ruled that the dynasty would continue to be named Windsor, although, as a compromise, the family name of those members of the Royal Family who have one was set to Mountbatten-Windsor.

Whiles it’s possible, even likely that most of us will see both William and George become King, it’s kind of sad that it’s possible, even likely there won’t be another Queen Regnant for centuries.
51 years spectated EIIR and VR. 123 years Victoria and Anne. 98 years Elizabeth I and Anne (I am ignoring Mary Mrs William of Orange here).
If Charles, William and George all live to the age Elizabeth did, earliest a new Queen Regnant can ascend to the throne would be in 2109.

While Truman was President when she became Queen, he had been replaced by Ike when she was crowned.

Not this again.

Yes. Can people stop saying King of England at the outset. It was bad enough when they kept saying Queen of England.
Let’s nip it in the bud.

Since male primogeniture has now been abolished, there is an even chance in each generation for the next monarch to be male or female. So I’d say it’s unlikely that it will take centuries before we see the next Queen regnant.
