RCMP leading the procession to buckingham, the navy is pulling the gun carriage.
Is the procession going to be on foot all the way from Westminster to Windsor, or will they change to cars at some point? Google Maps says it’s a 7-hour walk!
They are switching to vehicles at buckingham.
For the first time a woman is part of the naval group pulling the gun carriage.
Any estimate on the number of people lining the route and watching in person?
If that the king leading the procession? Damn, i didn’t want everyone staring at me, marching nearly, when my parents died. What a horrible life style or just be to be British royalty.
Much more pomp and circumstance than the last big televised funeral i watched, which was that of the king of Jordan.
Hardly. The switch is at Hyde Park Corner
They are switching now, i think
That was a looooooong walk. Good thing they had nice weather for it. So was there a Plan B in case of rain?
My guess is they would have tucked the royals into cars, but the rest would have pretty much been the same. Healthy young soldiers can march in the rain.
Get wet?
“God Save the Queen” as the hearse pulls away…
My country 'tis of thee.
I doubt they would let that crown get wet!
Really. Not as if the military of Britain would not be used to that. The older veterans would have likely been excused and the older royals put in vehicles I suppose.
Yep, some of us have different lyrics.
I’m sad i missed the service. But i had insomnia last night, and waking up early for the service wouldn’t have been a good idea.
One of the BBC commentators just said that even if it were pouring rain, people would still have come out in the thousands-- very British to do so.
The funeral of her grandfather George V in February 1936 took place in the rain. The crown on his coffin got wet.
God Save The King! That’s what got me during the funeral - when they started up the national anthem right in front of the coffin and sang God Save The King. That REALLY felt like the end.
They would have walked in the rain. You obviously don’t remember the Queen’s 60th anniversary - it bucketed down all weekend and the Royals got soaked several times.
