Bri1600BV Has Shown Me The Light!

That was my point. Apparently I fail at sarcasm.

Yeah, right.

curlcoat is on social security disability, but claims that she paid for it while working, so it’s not the same thing. There aren’t enough :rolleyes:s for that on the entire internet.

We interrupt this thread to congratulate **Guinastasia **on her 36,000th post! ::confetti:: Remember when we used to throw post count parties for people when they reached a multiple of 1,000? When we were all still in 4 figures and Guinastasia was the first to get 5 figures? They quashed that practice though.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread in progress.

Congratulations, Guin! You get to spend time in the Big Room, away from the Dope, for as long as you can stand it!

ETA: I confirmed from Guin’s post history that this is indeed her 36k post.

I had thought that the late*, not-particularly-lamented handy was the first Doper to go to five digits.

*“late” in the sense of “banned,” not “dead”. AFAIK.

I tell ya, if it ain’t lobster and steak, it’s the internet coming up every single time.

My daughter is a grown woman now (the waiting list was several years ago) and I’m not going to tell her what she can and can’t do with the money she doesn’t contribute to the household. And I’m honest enough to report what she does contribute.
She is in school and uses this computer for classes. I get online during the day here and there but as you can see I don’t come here often.

And I was making ends meet when I got pregnant. I lost a child several years ago when I was married and was told I couldn’t get pregnant by doctors because of scar tisue on my tubes, then lo and behold even with a condom I got pregnant again. I don’t have to excuse something like this. Everyone makes mistakes. My little girl is not a mistake. The ONLY reason I get food stamps is because she has a disability that makes it exceptionally hard for me to work a full-time job. I do not get food stamps because I am lazy or stupid or foolish.

This is a fine example of what I was talking about earlier. Fuck your stereotypes. We are people. We aren’t underclass heroes or bums or baby factories or whatever label you want to stick on people who seek assistance.

I guess you can’t see whether I come here often or not since there’s no post count for guests.

It’s low.

Come now, people. Everybody knows that good poor people never go to libraries or use services provided to them or do anything but huddle in their cardboard boxes beating themselves with sticks. Good poor people steal the money their teen daughter earns with her own labor. Good poor people kill their children (regardless of their age when the person becomes poor). And obviously all rational people think that suffering has nothing to do with the conditions you are in - poor people are incapable of suffering, because they aren’t rich.

Really folks, this is obvious stuff. How could you disagree with any of this? Your failures at being anti-welfare and anti-poor people are really frustrating - they’re seriously the main reason we right-thinking people are anti-welfare and anti-poor people ourselves. If there weren’t so many annoying pro-welfare and pro-poor people people out there, then we wouldn’t be so frustrated - in fact, if everybody was anti-welfare and anti-poor people, then nobody would be frustrated and there wouldn’t be any anti-welfare and anti-poor people people at all!

Not exactly. They take them into the woods and abandon them to be eaten by wolves.

Now see, that just SHOWS you how stupid poor people are. They should kill said child and eat the child themselves. DUH!!!

And when their parents and grandparents get too old, well, hey – soylent green, anyone?

I dunno - I don’t recall that soylent green tasted bad. Those poor people only get bad-tasting food, right? Lest they forget their place, I mean.

Soylent Green is children, cause they’re youngers. Senior Citizens get turned into Soylent Grey which is chewier but has a higher fiber content.

Holy flipping crap, I’m seven posts away from 13,000! I have GOT to get a life. I surely don’t really post four times a day… do I?

Jeez, don’t get me started on Universal Heat death. The thought that my tax dollars go toward the heat death of poor people fill me with disgust and impotent rage. Dirty poor people think their entitled to my heat death. I mean I worked for that heat death. I don’t want my thermal equilibrium distributed equally, that’s socialism.

Distributing heat equally over a system, regardless of who generated it, the laws of Thermodynamics are Communism! They need changed, for Liberty and Great Justice!

Someone get the teabaggers on this!

That what it seems to be, some sort of self serving “I’m better than you scum”, a sick little power trip. Long ago, I was out of work for a time, and it sucked. Even for that short time, it sucked. I didn’t take a dime from anyone - but if it had gone on much longer, I would have had to. Being broke and not knowing how you will pay the rent or eat is punishment enough.

Did I mention it sucked?

But but but wolves have to eat too, ya know!

Won’t somebody think about the wolves???

I know, let’s call them forest puppies (sort of like sea kittens but different)

Why would you go to the library and access a message board if you didn’t have a computer at home? Or were you also accessing the board from work? I’m not really getting this.

BTW, I know the go-to-the-library part is free…
