Briarpatch TV series

Anyone watching this? It’s very loosely based on the Ross Thomas novel, so I am tempted with absolutely no expectation it will be anything like the novel. Also welcome here: thoughts on what Thomas might have written about politics today? Or would he have concluded there was no point in trying to write political fiction at this moment? Ukulele Ike, you out there?

Bumping to say we saw the first episode; in Soviet Canucksitan it can be more difficult to find shoes. While it is very different from the novel, some elements are there and the creators are clearly Ross Thomas fans…the Jake Spivey character is drinking “Dunjee” beer, a reference to the Thomas novel The Mordida Man. If we can get more, we’ll watch more.

When Twin Peaks originally came out, there were a few copycat series that tried the quirky pseudo-surrealism approach, most of which failed to take a hold - though it did lead to some good things like Northern Exposure.

This feels like another one of those.
