Back from fine dinin’ and a trip by the grocery sto’ cause OYKW just had to have some chawklit ice cream. There’s vanilla ice cream in the freezer and chawklit syrup but it just ain’t the same apparently. Anywho, he has his chawklit ice cream so all is right with the world.
I’m mostly packed - except for toiletries and a few miscellaneous items. We ran to Salsa’s for an early supper, then to get some cash for the trip. **FCD **has barely started packing. But about 2 or so tomorrow, we’ll be heading out.
And that’s about it. I just started a fire because it’s cold. I feel like I want to knit something, but I don’t know what. Maybe I’ll just make another hat.
Quiet boring night ahead.
Hugs for Spaz, and a belated happy birthday to ShortDrum. Hang in there, LiLi, sending good thoughts your way and to everyone else who needs or even just would like to have them.
Wow, must have been some magic in FCM’s encouraging words, because I think I might be on my way to getting the “tension” right when crocheting now! I also watched (and re-watched) several how-to videos on youtube. I was somehow able to fix the hat that was too big - it now looks like a rasta hat, but it can also make it as an oversized beret. I’m still not sure how I did it, but I got the brim/edge of the hat to be smaller enough to be snug. And I’ve also crocheted a couple of more just right size hats now, so it wasn’t a fluke. Yeah buddy! Now it’s on to find and join a Project Linus project.
We had barbequed pulled pork sandwiches last night - home made. They were delicious; I’m also making a sausage and pasta casserole tomorrow. I think I’d like to maybe find a vegetarian cooking class somewhere; we’ll see if it’s on the course menu of any of the nearby community centers. Maybe just a recipe exchange. Meat has gotten even more expensive, and it’s probably healthier to eat vegetarian a couple of times a week. Let me make it clear, however, that I am NOT giving up meat altogether, that’s for sure.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable Saturday evening. I’m going to be watching Animal Planet’s Pit Boss and Pit Bulls and Parolees - gotta watch the dogs!
I’s sleepified. Nitey Nite Y’all!
Happy birthday, Gnat. I wish your brother slept after five-twenty. Urgh. Going to switch up with Mr. Lissar at seven, whether he knows it or not.
The party was good and exhausting. Need more sleep and a day of recovery.
Ashes, I am going to tell the doctor. I’m really thankful that I’ve got to 32 weeks without bedrest, although today bedrest sounds great.
And so it is a Sunday during winter and, as usual, my grandparents don’t want to go to church. My heart is well and truly broken.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 32 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 59. A Winter’s day in south Jawja for sure!
Happy Birthday Gnat, AKA, Tiny Ninja Chef! Wow! He’s like four years old now right LiLi? Hard to believe!
Today we have a visitin’ Priest. She does supply around this area of the Diocese and is really good. YP and four others from good ol’ St. Pat’s are headed down to the Dominican Republic to build a couple of houses and some baños this week. Behold the tilde over the “n”. Bow down to my mad accent mark usin’ skillz!
I need more caffiene and I suppose I should make some brekkie bein’ as tummy is gettin’ very demandin’. Of course, one must purtify for deheathenization as well.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
It’s probably not particularly nice of me to say, but since Scruffy has been gone, I’m sleeping really well. No more being wakened in the middle of the night or way too early in the morning. We stay up till 11 or 12 and I wake around 6-7 feeling human. I’d forgotten what that was like.
All the last minute stuff gets done today. **FCD **has to finish packing. I need to gather our toiletries and sundries. Bed must be stripped and re-made, and I’ll toss the sheets in the wash. Also fresh towels will be put out for our housesitter. She’s bringing her Christmas stuff over to put back in the attic, and I’ll have to help her with that. And I need to make a list of stuff for her to remember. Details, details…
Last of the leftover pizza for breakfast, and I’ve got leftover Messican food for lunch (Pollo Fiesta - muy yummo!!) Target departure time is 2-ish. Will we make it?? You may never know, but I’ll try to post at Mom’s when we get there tonight. Dunno if I’ll be back here before then. Depends on when my sweetie gets up.
Yay, tarra! Glad you’re figuring out the tension thing. Just FYI, I finished an afghan last week, and the start end and finish end aren’t exactly the same, even tho the stitch count didn’t change. Apparently over the course of the 6’ of length, my stitches got tighter or looser. So even with 40+ years of experience, I still make beginner mistakes. Just to let you know what you may be facing.
LiLi - I feel like I need to nominate you for Mom of the Year. Not that you’d have time to go to the award ceremony… Good luck with getting some bedrest, and I hope your twins arrive happy, healthy, and sleeping thru the night!
Onward to the Funny Pages!! Happy Sunday!
Not only am I awake before 8:00 am, and dressed(-ish: sweatpants and a thermal top), but the coffee is almost ready. Gosh, what will I do with these extra few morning hours?*
- surf the 'net. what else?
Mornin’ all. Caffienating and preparing for a proper Lutheran deheathenization. I prepared by listening to Prairie Home Companion last night.
Once again the OMG SNOW! predicted did not come to pass. Tennessee’s been taking the hit for us lately. There are some lovely giant icicles on the rock walls of the Parkway.
Rosie’s sig to all! I’m off to read theLego Biblefor a bit.
Morning, I’m up, caffeinated, and dogs are walked. Not working today. Had fun at the game last night with my :just friend: and her grandson. We fed him 20,000% of his RDA of sugar.
Happy Birthday Gnat!!!
rosie, sweats are good.
Safe trip MMMMMMoooooommm!!!. Are you there yet? Are you there yet?Are you there yet?Are you there yet?
Morning everyone!
Since I think I managed to forget on Firday - Thanks for the Happys everyone!!
Got the Jeep back last night. $565 for a new ball joint, a new floor pan with seat legally attached to it, new heater core and controls. He told us that we need to get 3 tiny little plugs for the carburator to help it run better and help the gassy smell go away. We also need to get plugs for the floor pan because HOLY HELL that’s some cold ass air coming up my pant leg!!! Those were little things he didn’t have time to do and I can easily do and weren’t actually in his plan to do anyway. We also need to give it back to him when I have time to be without it (spring break most likely) so he can replace the heater cables. He set it up so the heat would blow as hot as possible and we can turn it off and on but that’s it. He didn’t have time to replace them (because I need it back for tomorrow).
So, it has heat and it runs and the bad ball joint is gone. He said our breaks are great, as are our tires but we need an oil change (which we knew) and those various plugs and new wipers and that’s all stuff I can do after it (hopefully) passes inspection tomorrow. Once all that’s done, I can go to school and finally get my parking permit so I’ll be all ready for class at 8AM on Tuesday. YAY!!!
Somehow managed to sleep at midnight and got up at 8:30. I’m wide awake and ready for the day which shall be packed full of…nothing. :dubious: Hmm. Mayhaps I need to find myself something to do.
Ginger is trying to con me into giving her my yogurt. It’s not gonna work, no matter how prettily she sits or how fast her butt wags.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GNAT!!!
I DID IT I DID IT!!!
My obsessive checking and rechecking of the abailable classes got me enrolled in the chemistry class that I desperately need, the astronomy and ancient greece class I really wanted and out of 2 classes I didn’t really want. Even better, I now have Monday AND Friday off. YAY!!!
W00T!
Ooooh, I think I forgot to wish shortdrum a happy birthday:
Happy belated Birthday, shortdrum!
Also:
Happy Birthday, NotSoTinyNinjaChef! How can you be 4 already?
Hope things are looking up already, Ashes. Perhaps investigating the goings-on at the Gonzales’s will help? (They seem to be making a lot of noise this morning.)
Kudos to shortdrum on persistence. I suspect you’re going to need to be an obsessive refresher for a while in order to get the classes you need. At least you’ve already proven that it’s possible.
Hope things are looking up for you, too, Spaz. Also, I believe you have prepared brilliantly for deheathenization.
Sinuses are complaining, but I think I’m coughing less. So there’s that. Also, we are having waffles for lunch.
I’m very envious of you and your upcoming cruise, FCM. Hope you have a great time!
I know I’ve forgotten some…so here are some hugs to pass around: {{{{{{{}}}}}}}

Today I made a chocolate pecan pie.
Today I confirmed that even with the addition of chocolate, I just really don’t like pecan pie.*
*My mom said it was very good and she’s not one to lie about these sorts of things.
I LOVE pecans. Lovelovelovelove! They’re my favorite nut.
I detest pecan pie. It’s vile and sticky and dense and just ugh. I can’t imagine that chocolate would be an improvement. I bet that someone who actually likes pecan pie would enjoy it though.
Home from deheathenization and N.O.L. has been consumed. We stopped at the grocery sto’ to pick up some fried chikin. I heated up some peas and nuked some N.O.T.. Not a bad N.O.L..
Have a fun cruise MOOOOOOM! Eat lots, see shows and also sorts of general carryin’s on!
I lurves pee-can pie. I lurves chawklit pee-can pie. I have had pee-can pie that was custardy instead of syrupy and that was good too. Then again, how could pee-can pie be anything but good.
I shall now go chill out for a bit.
Laterz!
I love pecans as well. I like pecan pie, but can’t eat more than about 1/2 a slice. It’s just too sweet.
Waffles were a success. I have a really nice recipe that contains a minimum of ingredients and no added fat or sugar. And is still yummy. Of course, we added chocolate chips to one of the waffles (I have a 4-square waffle maker), so that made up for that.
Am going to make multiple recipes of waffles and throw them in the freezer so that we can just toast them as needed. Yum.
Also, I just looked through the Joy of Cooking to compare the recipe and found that she has a recipe where you put thin slices of bacon on the waffles as you bake them, as in this recipe. That sounds yummy (not sure why the allrecipes author thinks cheese sauce is a good idea; I think a bit of maple syrup would be perfect).
Mmmmm. Waffles.
Hugs.

I absolutely love bacon cooked into my waffles and pancakes! So yummy. I love maple and real maple syrup on homemade waffles or pancakes with bacon cooked into them is probably my favorite breakfast food (after rice krispies of course).
Sweetie is working so I’m having a relaxing day with my dawgs. Eating a turkey sammich for lunch and watching Topper Returns. Love this movie. I’ve never seen the other Topper movies though.
