Perhaps more to the point is how so many female scientists hide their gender by using their initials to indicate their authorship of scientific papers. “J.K. Jones”, say, rather than “Jane”. The presumption being that male scientists are more likely to take a paper seriously if they don’t know the author is female. I think they are probably right, though I have no idea how to prove that. Scientifically.
I just want to say hang in there Bricker. I don’t have the time or desire to argue conservative thinking to the 95% liberal SDMB, but I hope you keep doing it. It never hurts them to hear opposing viewpoints.
You would think you’d be safe linking to a real news outlet, but as most of us have found out, you can’t believe everything you read even when it’s from reputable sources. Doesn’t mean unions are squeaky clean.
Boo fucking hoo. What do you want, a cookie and a glass of milk? It’s a tough old world out there and the amount of shit that people receive for saying stupid bullshit is not equitable. Rather than trying to fix the overall shit reception imbalance in the world, you might try simply saying less stupid bullshit. That’s just a suggestion, mind.
Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t see John Mace as a “conservative poster”, he strikes me as very centrist, and I see it as a sign of how left this board is that he is often cited as a conservative.
ETA: Also, count me among Bricker’s supporters - not that anyone cares!
I am not anti-Bricker, I am just anti-whining, and also anti-stupid bullshit. Why does this have to be some kind of ridiculous pro-Bricker/anti-Bricker camp thing? Not everything has to be a god damned football game.
I think I should probably not be on the Internet today.
Again, rather than scolding the rest of us for not coming down on what he sees as bullshit, Bricker needs to come down on what he sees as bullshit. The amount of time spent complaining over the lack of equity would be far better spent in creating equity.
No, that’s not possible; I could spend eight hours per day trying to create equity precisely because there’s a boatload of outspoken liberals and very few conservatives.
And, indeed, why isn’t this plea for a more reasoned approach also considered an attempt to create equity?
You keep missing the point --it’s not about Bricker, it’s about the majority of SDMB posters. They see themselves as fair and impartial adjudicators of truth, but their behavior shows them simply to be partisan hacks. When this is pointed out, they don’t even respond directly, they justly repeatedly fail to see the point and think the conservatives are just whining.
Why do you give two shits what other people see themselves as? I could make up all sorts of fascinating scenarios about how you see yourself, and some of them might even be accurate, but I fail to see how this would be relevant to any sort of legitimate discussion on here.
Don’t post stupid bullshit and stop whining when you’ve been told that you posted stupid bullshit. Job done.
Yes! I can read Bricker’s posts without wanting to stab something! The other conservatives that haven’t gone running off tend to be brainless, or trolls.
