- I need to know where to find reasonably accurate MIDI’s from the Superman soundtrack. MP3’s, even partial ones of each song, would be just as good, but MP3 availability isn’t what it used to be.

- Here’s the deal: the store where I work is playing Christmas muzak on the sound system. One of the songs they play is a nice little piano piece. I am fairly certain it is the “flying theme” from the movie Superman. A co-worker agreed that it did sound like the music that they remembered from the flying scene in the movie. The superman soundtrack lists a song named “love theme/flying sequence”, but I don’t want to buy a 2-CD set just to find it’s the wrong song.
- As to why the muzak service would group that song in with a bunch of traditional Christmas instrumentals, I have no idea. A few months back they were playing current contemporary easy-listening, with “Let’s Hear It For The Boy” from the movie Footloose tossed in now and then. - DougC
If all you need is a short sample to see if its the same song, try cdnow. They have 30 second samples of every song from the soundtrack and score.
Yes, CDnow is a good place to start for samples. The “love theme” from Superman is called “Can you read my mind” and the words are the cheesy poem Lois thought to Superman while he was carrying her. There’s a good midi version as the background music at this page.
Just go to altavista.com (yes, it’s true, I’m not a google fan) and for your search, type in: +midi +“can you read my mind”
You’ll come up with more links than you can shake a stick at. In fact, try it. Shake a stick at your screen. You’ll only be shaking a stick at 10 links at a time, and there are more than 10, so you’ll easily see that I’m right.
