"Bringing Up Baby"

Also, Ralph Bellamy is completely wrong for Hildy, so while he was dumped it was for his own good. He can now find a nice girl who will enjoy a nice quiet insurance sales life with him and mother.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it - but I’m not happy at the end of that movie. Dex and Tracy may be in love and may always have been in love - but it feels like they’ll have the exact same problems the first time around. I don’t believe in it. I feel sorry for Mike & Liz. I’m just so sad for everyone and the wedding at the end feels tacked on and wrong.
It’s been a couple of years since I’ve watched it, but I’m not in a hurry to do so.

Holiday isn’t as floofy as Baby is, not by a long shot. But there’s still an undercurrent of hope in that movie and at the end, I’m cheering for Linda & Johnny in a way that I’m not for Dex and Tracy.

I think you also meant married as they have to wait for the annulment to go through before the “walls of Jericho” can come down.

I admit, I’ve only seen the movie once (unlike the Grant comedies which I’ve seen an almost indefensible amount of times because Cary Grant was the most gorgeous of men).

I love screwball comedy, but Bringing Up Baby is near the bottom of my list. With The Awful Truth (sorry, Ralph Bellamy), The Palm Beach Story, Nothing Sacred, The Young in Heart, and the scrumptious The Good Fairy to be seen? I’ve liked Hepburn in many movies, but she sinks this one.
